Seniors can make hundreds of k, more than junior associates, but it can be a long road to get to senior status. For young oberlin grads with b cup tits and mousy hair it’s a much better sinecure to get into the firm recruiting / staff / bureaucracy and make 100k working 10 real hours a week with 8 weeks of vacation. A rare few actually like / are good at the job and end up becoming lifers. Those become your invaluable seniors over time.
Many use it as a testing ground re the practice of law, realize they don’t want it, and leave to some more corporate easy job (including in the firm itself). |
