It must completely suck to not be a first born child. No wonder a lot of them are fuckups. They never felt true love from their parents. And for the first borns who fuck up their lives, they are the biggest pieces of shit imaginable given their huge advantages.

this is maybe only true to the extent that for the period between the 1st and 2nd born, the 1st born gets a type of intense focused affection that is never replaced thereafter. but, it’s not like ur 1st born is ever going to remember that period if they were like 2 years old. after that, the love is all the same

The first is without a doubt special. Life changed; you want crazy caring about zher; bought all this shit; grandparents coming to town for weeks; you and wife spent tons of time just with the little guy. Second comes and never gets the same amount of attention no matter what - it’s just not possible. Additionally, second also has an older sibling to chill with, not just mom and dad.

I don’t think it’s less love, but it is less time.

The true sad sacks are the middle kids.

What about first borns who are behavioral nightmares?

I suppose in this case it rubs off on the younger and doesn't help the younger at all

I think the vague memories of being called "Devilish little niglet" by pop will be reflected upon fondly

All of my kids are different and have different personalities. It's really hard to nail it down. They are all their own person.

Not remotely true, but it is true that their best case is 50 percent of their parents attention.

i was a classic firstborn. petted and fawned over like a hothouse flower. it made me a narcissistic maniac and my family eventually turned on me, and my younger sibling became the golden child. so sometimes it works out for them, if they bide their time.

Dont agree

It takes a bit longer for the second one but they still get the love

And they get their older siblings love assuming you raised your kid right

They don’t get the unlimited compete focus the first did but thats also a good thing
