180

I wonder if I’d have more passion for it if I had sought it out on my own as an adult, but then again I love music now after feeling bored taking music lessons as a kid sometimes, so there’s a season for everything in life it seems!

What prompted you to start?

Cliche but I always wanted to do it. I love sports. I love being outdoors. I was getting older so contact sports were becoming increasingly untenable. I love the traditions and the gentlemanly aspects of it, though sadly found out that those are now fading. And I love the fucking challenge of it, it's been an odyssey working on my swing but when you hit the ball just right and you get that instant feedback, that feeling is extremely addictive. It's just wonderful.

I couldn’t agree more on everything you’re saying, unironically

And I have to admit that the feeling of connecting with the ball right, that distinctive sound and feel that each type of club makes, loved that feeling as a kid but naturally wasn’t into the consistency of practice needed, which ironically is the opposite now - a wholesome routine feels great for the body and soul when you really LIVE the long term peace it brings to everything

(Future me trying to explain to my dad why I suddenly started practicing my golf game again and asking random country club etiquette questions)

(My dad when earnestly trying to pass on one of his favorite family traditions to me as a kid - spoiler alert I’m gay now but by no fault of his own)
