He made the astute observation that there's no historical parallel for the macroeconomic forces we have today. If you think the US can incur endless debt forever with no consequences, you may be right, but you have no historical analogies to back you up. If anything history predicts the exact opposite.

Now envision a scenario where china divests its dollar holdings without fucking its own ass. It has to use its dollars to purchase something that's cheap (in USD) but than backstop china'd currency. Gold might do it but there's not that much supply for one thing
