Date: August 4th, 2026 6:07 PM Author: Shturm Z It's creepy but extremely efficient I'd use the registers more if they actually bothered to staff them, which they don't, as these multinats are faithless exploiters of local resources and labor. A cashier job isn't much but it's some student or old person's means of living in a locale. There should be a calibrated discount for self-checkout users to cut the customer in on the loss of service and attendant increase in profits arranged by the exchange of the cashier for the machine, but there won't be, as all automation in the US apparently has to be a black box valuation of pure profit for investors. Imo there needs to be more cooperatives in the field as I am tired of these corporations from who knows where distorting real good prices and extracting disproportionate amounts of value from locales for the benefit of some asshole's cayman bank account loot pile. |

At the same time, it could be faster. IDK how people are so fucking slow at using the things. It almost never happens that the person ahead of me in the checkout makes it out the door before me. |
