The controversy stems from the fact that the guitar Schenker is most closely associated with is the Gibson Flying V, and he’s never been known to play a Strat, but the arpeggiated rhythm and hammer-ons played throughout the verses sounds exactly like a Strat. Apparently no official record exists.
I’m firmly in the Strat camp. I know the sound of a Strat when I hear one, and that’s a Strat. |

You could even use different picks and get drastically different sounds.
