Divorced dad. My weekend tomorrow.

Need to be in Seattle for a meeting but told them I need to be remote. Partner starts saying this is a critical meeting and he was hoping everyone would be there.

I'm a level below Partners so there are obvious implications for me not attending. Fuck it, i'm not missing my precious time for a work meeting then drinks with some fags idgaf about

Good goyim

Better get another job lined up so when you get shitcanned from this one your alimony and child support payments won’t be interrupted

i'm not getting shitcanned. too valuable, not enough talent in this market at my level, etc. Also, that would be a horribly shortsighted decision for the organization to make.

but there could be some more subtle ramifications such as the beginning of a reputation of not being committed, which likely will be the excuse for why I don't make partner. I appreciate these more subtle considerations could be difficult for you to grasp given your clear autism

none of us are 45 year old associates either. we're all either retired from law or partners.

not too close to 45 but soon enough as you can't stop time. also not at biglaw, much longer partner track. but it's true, no excuses. i'm a loser

I can't compete with you on how much you see your kids. but, I likely am a more committed father. not because you are a bad father in any way, but because my time is more limited and therefore I am more committed to the time I do have.

Also, because of limited time, I attend every school, athletics, etc. event i can. I used to go to practices before she quit the sport I'm passionate about.

my child has seen her parents in healthy functioning relationships with people that aren't her other parent, but I agree it's probably no substitute for a healthy in tact relationship

they will absolutely pay for me to go and get shitfaced. i'd rather have dinner with my kids. i wouldn't work at a place that required you to pay out of pocket for business trips

$1,082

I could probably get it lowered but this amount seems fair given all the clothes, activities, food, etc. the kid need.

at the same time, I don't pay for private school. i think her mother realizes she got more than she was due from the house on the divorce and is letting this slide
