Author: clear police squad property
The agent was identified by several reports, including RealClearPolitics, as Michelle Herczeg.
The U.S. Secret Service (USSS) itself did not officially release her name, citing the incident as a private medical matter. However, internal sources and subsequent media investigations provided the following context regarding her background:
• Career History: Before joining the Secret Service, Herczeg was a police officer in Dallas, Texas.
• Previous Litigation: In 2016, she filed a $1 million gender discrimination lawsuit against the Dallas Police Department, alleging she was assaulted by a fellow officer and that the department retaliated against her for reporting it. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed in 2021 after a judge found she had not provided sufficient evidence for her claims.
• Nature of the Episode: During the April 2024 incident at Joint Base Andrews, reports indicated she began speaking incoherently, threw her phone at another agent, and physically shoved a superior officer before being tackled and handcuffed.
The agency has consistently maintained that the outburst was a medical/mental health crisis rather than a premeditated or malicious act. Following the incident, she was removed from the Vice President’s detail and placed on leave pending medical evaluation.
