Tyrion’s character went to shit after that.
To be fair, isn’t that about when the books stopped? I think the show was started with the expectation that lazy GRRM would have the books finished before the later seasons were filmed.

It was Robert's death. GRRM loves gothic era horror
Everything that comes after is the result of the result of so many sacred laws being broken so quickly. Most of everyone involved is dead or severely maimed by the end of the show/books (i guess on the latter). Hell itself breaks open on the population of Westeros after the mandate of heaven isn't just "lost" but actively trampled on by a bunch of amoral schemers and plotters---including some within his own court and family--- with no respect for the former king or why he was the way that he was and why it was natural for it to be that way
The only real "good guy" claimants are the Baratheons (sanguine Blood of Kings) and the Starks (enforcers of the sacred laws) and maybe Aegon II and every other major family deigning on the sharp iron porcupine in the capital gets decimated in oft ironic and poetic Poe-esque tales and vignettes of cosmic revenge

if you keep disagreeing with me in every thread we will need to meet up and fight
Act3: The stoic father putting a leash on the ephemeral whims of his female family members is based and CR, but overall the story lost most of its gravitas once u realize it's a big simulation and all of the emotion surrounding the gomage etc was pointless
