it's eerie to think about, but just eliminating the bottom ~80% of humanity would solve almost every single problem that our species has. and you could solve most of them by less aggressive cullings
i'm not even necessarily endorsing an elimination of all these people, but it's something that imo is pretty important to think about. it means that any solution that doesn't involve eliminating these ppl has to involve improving them to some extent to where they would no longer cause problems due to feeling/being inferior
"we" have to find some way to improve, marginalize, or eliminate most of the human race. pretty kooky situation to be in |

Date: January 6th, 2023 3:05 PM Author: hairraiser fantasy-prone place of business segregation and caste systems are alternative solutions. but i'd argue that we as a species have already tried them, and they have failed. there's a reason why these systems have been out-competed by the current paradigm. the possibility of improving one's lot in life and the lot of one's descendants is a very powerful motivator for men to contribute to civilization. even if we successfully re-introduced these systems, it would be only a matter of time until they failed again. nobody really likes them. left to their own devices, humans will self-segregate to the degree that is maximally appropriate and beneficial
it's difficult (really, impossible) for me to envision the "next step" of the species ever being achievable without solving The Inferior People Question. are we really going to become a space-faring species without the entire planetary population being able to buy into the idea that they have a stake in it, which would require them to actually have a stake in it? and what on earth would that look like? |

Date: January 6th, 2023 2:48 PM Author: hairraiser fantasy-prone place of business yeah that's what i said. but no one actually talks about improving these people as an end. they just talk about it as an instrumental means ("we can give the underprivileged free money so they won't be so butthurt and will have a higher quality of life!") but no one talks about improving them as an end in and of itself - eugenics? training programs? stricter discipline? etc
anybody who is serious about the future is necessarily going to have to choose one of these two options: eliminating this group of people, or pursuing the radical policies that would be needed to actually raise them up to an appropriate level. since nobody actually wants to genocide most of the human race, you'd think and hope that there would be more voices out there calling for the latter option. but you never hear anyone talk about this at all. very odd case |
