According to her, they were forced to get off the plane because of technical issues and told to remove all items because they didn't know if they would be re-boarding that plane.
As she's getting off she notices a phone charger on the ground near someone else's seat. Taking her at her word here, she's then faced with a decision of what to do. If it's me, i don't touch the charger.
First, being in transit sucks enough, i'm not going out of my way to create additional issues in my life or obligations for myself. I would walk right past that thing and keep moving with my life.
The ONLY reason I would even think about stopping is if my phone was very low on battery and i'd forgotten a charger. Even then, I would keep walking out of fear of being accused of thievery.
Is it this girl's contention that she was motivated by being a good samaritan? According to her, the only action she took was having a private conversation with a "stewardess". If her intention was to find the owner and return the item, I believe she would have:
1) Attempted to return it upon exiting the plane to the gate. That's where all of the other people who'd just gotten off the flight would be hanging around.
2) Had the charger out and ready to return to the man. It was still in her bag even though she knew exactly which seat it belonged to having picked it up from the floor. The charger was still in her bag, and she didn't take it out or open her mouth until the guy started badgering her. If he were smarter, he would have just passively let her go to her seat and sit down. Then we'd know for sure.
Nevertheless, her actions are not consistent with a do-gooder trying to return a lost item to its rightful owner.

What's seems likely to me is that she picked it up off the ground in the aisle as she was walking off the flight with the intent to pass it off to a flight attendant. I might have done the same. If the flight attendant refused to take it, I feel like my obligation is over at that point. I'm not going to expend extra effort to go to the gate staff or track down the owner inside the airport. This is like a $5 item at best.
Getting on the flight, maybe I might briefly ask the people in the area if they lost a charger, but if some faggot aggressively started filming me, then fuck him.
She isn't trying to hide that she has it, she tells him she has it and offers to return it. Obviously she needs to get to her seat first and get it out of her bag. |

that being said, if the restaurant refuses to accept it, im not sure wtf u do. you have no way of getting in touch with the owner.
in the instant case, however, everyone's clearly getting back on the plane, and she can easily take minimal effort to try to get the cord back to the owner by asking the gate agent or putting it back on the seat. |

In a situation where I'd be leaving a plane and coming back to it, I'd view taking a charger that you find disconnected on the ground and using it and then returning it before the end of the flight - either to where it was, or to the flight attendant or to the person you saw drop it as being the right thing to do.
I'd say that if it was a random charger on the ground that is the same type as the one you already own, I could have easily made that mistake - especially if I needed to charge my phone and was in a hurry to disembark/embark.
However, I'd also argue that you would be obligated to pick it up if it was a lost object in a vessel type situation (Bus, ship, plane, train etc) - and before the trip ends attempt to return it.
So I think her hesitancy to return the charger indicates she is a thief, if she did not possess one that was identical to it already that she couldn't locate - in that case it would simply be a mistake of ignorance.
Edit: Watched the videos. This bitch knew exactly where the charger was and is a 100% thief IMO.

Not sure how she was hesitant to return it, she immediately told him she had it and said she would would give it back to the guy - obviously she needs to get to her seat first to get it out of her bag and not just block the aisle. And given how annoying he was, I don't blame her for slow-walking it.
Some are saying she could have tried harder to find the owner at the gate, or try to give it to a gate attendant, but IMO her obligation ended with the flight attendant - how much time and effort is she supposed to expend to track down the owner of a $3 item? If the flight attendant didn't want to bother with it, why would the gate attendant? |
