He wants to be proud of himself but he can't get rid of this nagging feeling of being humiliated. He is really sad that a sizable percentage of America thinks he's a loser. And it leads him to do things like go into Venezuela with no plan for what happens after Maduro is out. The lack of a plan was because he didn't even care about having one. To him it was just "if I capture Maduro I get alpha male points and feel good about myself." And maybe he did feel good about himself, temporarily, but how long did it last?
