vance is kind of fucked, he was pushed by the tucker wing of the gop who are skeptical of foreign adventurism, but he has to defend whatever trump is doing so he looks like a fraud to his base. the neocon wing of the gop was always skeptical of him, so he really has no obvious groundswell of support. not clear what kind of platform he could run on. |

Stuff like this and the markets actually reacting credulously to Trump alternating between "the war is ending" and "Iran must surrender" on a daily basis is surreal. Most of the time when people use that word, it's an exaggeration. But all of this is really weird and surreal to watch. Same with US "leadership" being genuinely unaware of the most basic facts and outcomes from an Iran attack and genuinely having no plan whatsoever if Iran just didn't outright surrender immediately
Between this and AI fakery and propaganda the world-at-large is really taking on a creepy, surreal quality and it makes me want to disconnect from it as much as I can except on a personal and local level |
