What Console are you guys starting your sons on?

Western-developed 21st century indies can be quite hard, but are not badass. They should not start with these imo because the games, the devs, and the players are all gay.
Soulslikes are a gateway drug for JRPGs and other Japanese games. Stay away. |

I and others just played it like a typical beat-em-up where you treat it like an arcade game, get your ass kicked, and ngaf. It's not the frustrating kind of difficulty because it doesn't inspire you to care. That's probably what most people would do. I only became autistic enough to actually try to play through it much later.
with that said, the gameplay variety as the levels unfold is impressive af. even the soundtrack is good. it has Cutscenes practically. clearly Rare had a ton of potential, and Nintendo was shrewd to take a stake in them. |

And when they do this they are telegraphing how dumb they are imho. there's a type of person who didn't really game much from like 8-12 but then became obsessed with violent FPSs. These are the Xbox 360 die-hards. They missed the best gaming years and in doing so they totally spoiled their development as gamers. I also get the feeling that they were so slow-witted that they needed to reach a more advanced age to handle video games. |
