Physical games helped keep game prices down. People play games, maybe to completion, and then never play them ever again. Being able to sell them is what kept used game prices so low. Ubisoft is famous for $5 games now but fewer physical games will push prices higher over time. People misunderstand the State of Game Prices. In the 2000s, my reaction to $50 was like “cool I’ll never fucking pay that unless it’s Kojima.” It’s not $70 in 2026 vs $50 in 2000. It was $50 for the best day-1 purchase games and like $10-20 or Rentals for the others.
