i've never met any normal, masculine bros who play as sneaky "stealth" characters in video games. and all the people i've played DnD with who have been "rogue" or "stealth" characters have been physically smaller and frail betas

yeah you still dont get it. game mechanics should create drama, that doesnt necessarily have anything to do with the plot or "story" of a game

MGS1-4 aren’t even stealth games. They’re marketed that way but really it’s just their way of trying to seem Cool. It’s more the fact that Snake kills soldiers quickly af and out of nowhere that makes him cool

MGS1 you sneak into the base but after that meh not really, most of the time is dialogue and boss fights

MGS2 is similar but it’s the tanker you sneak through, plant is kind of ridiculous, like walking across areas where you could easily be sniped in broad daylight plus you can just tranq everyone nbd and besides the game dies eventually rendition into boss fights/cutscenes

MGS3 you can just run through

MGS4 is a stealth game for like 15%, the rest is dialogue, scenes, boss fights. The bosses take a long time to kill so you spend more time fighting them than anything

MGS5 is a stealth game imo but still you can just kill everything nbd

Stealth sections in western games are terrible

Credited OP imo

If by western games you mean RDR/RDR2, yeah it’s pretty ghetto but also (like everything else in those games) they make it so you’d have to be a complete drooling retard to screw it up. Also there’s very little of it overall.

In shit like Hitman or certain parts of Mafia/Mafia 2 where it’s basically required and also easy to blow cover (on a console controller at least) it can be nightmarish.

I have the Hitman game for PS5, I didn't even get past the first mission. I just have no idea wtf to do and idgaf.

Same with TLOU, got to the first stealth mission and had no idea wtf to do, died very easily and just gave up because why not? it's a western Sony single-player game, I know I'm not missing anything.

I beat all of the MGS games on the highest difficulty nbd iirc, except 5 which is legit hard/RNG during the Otacon escape where I gave up.

It's best like in Hitman where there are stealth mechanics and the game rewards you for being stealthy, but it's entire possible to just machine gun your way through a level.

wrong. the original splinter cell games ruled and required an intellectual approach to how you beat a level. every game now holds your hand and forces you down a predetermined path. you can run and gun through the entire level and all youre doing is going from cut scene to cut scene.
