When I pointed out again that it was wrong and that it sounded like a redditor (because that’s what it trains on in part), it admitted that its training had enforced snark= confidence. I went into a long discussion about its “raters” and it recognized that it was ultimately being trained by a segment of the population that is unlike most (and a segment that can be extremely obnoxious). |

The 3/4 obvious choices: - Gemini: if you like Google it is a no brainer. You can get an advanced AI plan for like $5/month from Verizon or other places. - Perplexity: you can get 1 year of premium for free (just Google it) and it uses several llms. The best thing about perplexity is that it also has comet which is an agentic browser, so you can have it tell you if something goes on sale or whatever. - Copilot: if you like Microsoft this is essentially their version of ChatGPT. My wife likes O365 so I got a 1 year family version that included premium Copilot. - Grok is another one to consider if you want one to talk shit about illegal immigrants with. |

I had a solar array installed with a whole home battery backup (it is a Sol-Ark system with 2 large batteries). Everything worked except the system was selling energy back to the electric company and the batteries hovered under 60% when the way it is supposed to work is that they are supposed to charge to 100% off of solar and then at night work to drop our electric usage until they get to 50%. Our utility pays a fraction of price for energy you sell back compared to the cost of energy usage, so this is suboptimal. Installer comes back, says it is updated but still the same problem remains. Today I asked Gemini, it tells me where to look and I upload photos from the controller. Gemini immediately finds the problem and tells me that they screwed up one checkbox (the wording was unintuitive). I changed it and now it works as intended. You could dick around and play phone tag with this guy who has no idea what he did wrong or why it isn't working or you can use AI which will give you the right answer immediately and resolve it in 5 minutes.
