This delayed us by two hours. We had a two-hour layover at DCA so we just barely made our connection. A whole bunch of people got completely fucked on theirs though.

First, our original routing got massively fucked up. I got notified that we were re-booked for tomorrow morning because my BOS-PHL flight was delayed to the point where we'd miss PHL-DTW. I called and got it changed to BOS-DCA then DCA-DTW, but the flight was departing literally two hours from when I called. We had just enough time to go back to the ICU to see my dad, then headed straight to the airport.

We made it just in time, boarded, then all of that shit happened with the crazy passenger. When we landed, we made our connection with 15 minutes to spare. Most passengers were completely fucked over & have to spend the night in DC.

We were upgraded to first on DCA-DTW & I was sitting next to the flight attendant in the first row. I mentioned the previous flight, and the flight attendant told me she's been doing this for 11 years and has only kicked one person off. I also told her that the flight attendant also got switched out, and that's when she got really interested. I mentioned the video and she wanted to see it- she then started gossiping about it with the other flight attendants. They all seem to think this chick went to jail & will be on the no-fly list for life.

I whispered to my fiancee that her puffy jacket in the overhead bin was going to be a problem. My fiancee didn't believe me and thought I was being dramatic. Then the black flight attendant came by and very politely asked this woman to remove her puffy jacket so that people could stow their luggage. She flipped out, claimed that her mom just died, and then called the flight attendant a "fucking bitch" over and over. At one point, it sounded like she said "nigger" (with the hard r); I have to re-listen to the recording I have (I recorded a 40 second clip). The recording I have begins when the gate agents came aboard to tell her to deplane. I stopped recording after she stormed off because I thought that was the end of it.

While deplaning, she went *absolutely insane* on the jet bridge. It sounded like she got into a physical fight with the flight attendant; I don't really know the details because I couldn't see. I don't have an audio recording because my microphone couldn't pick it up. Regardless, I presume it was a physical fight because that flight attendant got replaced by someone else. After her outburst on the jet bridge, she began crying, which is why I presume she was arrested (she went from batshit insane to sobbing uncontrollably in like 2 seconds)

lots of regulations that need to be followed + maintaining a very tight schedule + failing to do so causes a lot of downstream problems + rules are enforced primarily by exasperated and underpaid people who are predominantly women + the consumers are subjected to this (and tsa and all the other kafkaesque shit with airtravel) are apt to take out their frustrations + people are often traveling for other stressful things = chimpout over a puffy coat in the overhead bin
