It is quite peaceful in the middle of the night. I feel calm but slightly too alert to fall back asleep despite several attempts. I’m just sitting here waiting for my normal 6 AM wake up time at this point.

This is unusual for me as I easily get around eight hours of sleep virtually every single night because I exercise for about two hours nearly every single day and pass out easily by bedtime. Yesterday and last night were no different.

What’s the positive of this? I get to ease into my morning instead of rushing through various morning tasks right after I wake up.

I haven’t gotten this little sleep in several years, so I’m not sure how I’ll feel later today. But at the moment there’s this pleasant calmness. No emails, no videos, no chores, etc.

it is by far my favorite part of the day

it might sound kooky but these days I occasionally look forward to going to bed really early so that I'm awake and feeling rested in the early hours when everyone else is still asleep

I’m up early every day, usually by 6 AM, but I immediately jump into my daily morning routine that gives me no time to simply rest and enjoy the peace like I’m doing right now. A typical morning is actually somewhat stressful. But I’ve gotten what, 5 or 5.5 hours instead of 8+ hours of sleep for one night? Not exactly problematic for only one night. Knowing I don’t have to interact with my family because they’re all asleep right now is indeed peaceful. I just hope I don’t get extremely sleepy in the middle of the day.

supposedly a high proportion of heart attacks happen soon after waking up because the jolt from sleep to stressed morning routine is quite stressful for a lot of people

enjoy the peace and quiet

I heard that heart attacks were more common in the morning, but I never looked into why. But it is a sensible theory. Hopefully my 2+ hours of exercise every day offset that risk.

I’m feeling more alert and slightly tense as my normal wake up time approaches. I think my mind and body are anticipating that stressful morning, but today I’ll ease into it.

This happens to me too often. I’ve been up since like 3:30. Watching sports center on mute in kitchen and trying to not wake everyone else up.
