at some point in the middle it genre-shifts over to a tense gothic horror film involving a dinosaur with the personality of a rascally Tex Avery protagonist

less of a (very loosely at this point) Crichton themed "Jurassic Park" film and more of a "Jurassic Park Stories" type deal like what Disney Star Wars did with some success in that "Rogue One" flick

what are these movies even about at this point? everyone is just at a dinosaur park where the dinosaurs escape? did they ever make up new plotlines?

i didn't see it (despite enjoying the first two, and the third somewhat) but i think jurassic world or whatever its called (the one with Ron Howard's talentless issue) is a rehash of the first one blended with one of the young adult JP novels' plotlines about a less safari more orlando dinosaur theme park getting overrun by the exhibits

so basically, yeah, same stuff, this time without the crichton inspired bits about playing god with genetics and "chaos theory" that gave it some polish for the critics.
