Chomsky knew wtf Epstein did based on the emails and clearly minimized his relationship with Epstein once it first became public knowledge in order to protect his public image, likely expecting it to blow over like any other scandal. Chomsky and his wife were clearly hiding the nature of their relationship because it was so damaging, but with everything now out in the public, she's forced to address it. And she does so dishonestly and cynically. All those decades of being a "moral voice of the left" erased in those emails LJL.
