They eventually wised up and said, why don't you just come in-house and do all our business?

Makes sense for them, because they can pay me less per matter. Makes sense for me, somewhat, because now I get every matter from them, instead of them doling it out among a group of lawyers.

And its a vote of confidence, I suppose, because they could have picked anyone.

But the dagger behind the offer was that if I said no, someone else will say yes, and I effectively lose all their referrals forever. So I really had no choice, unless I wanted to start from scratch without their cases.

The cultural buttfucking of joining a company, however, is severe. I have been instructed on how to sign up for about 8 different softwares (Jingo for team goals, Jango for team messages, Bubbles for quarterly progress charts, Tribble for client files, Drobble for....), and two HR shrews held a virtual meeting with me to explain, over 45 minutes, that they would be sending me a link to Bamboozle, a software that contains "training videos" I need to watch and mark completed.

I clicked on a few and they remind viewers to "take ownership" and also "be part of a team".

There are like 30 hours of videos.

Fma, as a solo you forget how much of "work life" is total and complete bullshit. I have not spent more than 5 minutes over the last decade doing ANYTHING that wasn't directly related to a client outcome. FMA
