I predict that as internet connections get better, the following will happen:
Tablets/PCs will essentially become RDP portals to servers owned by major companies. RDP technology is pretty solid as it is. This means most of the hardware will not reside on your tablet/PC, but some major server center owned by Google, AT&T, or some bullshit. The downside to all this is obviously privacy issues and places with shitty internet, but the benefit is never having to upgrade your PC ever again, reformatting, etc. You're not going to purchase computers any longer (other than your tablet screen, which is now essentially a monitor), you'll pay big companies to use their services
Tablet/PCs you'll be able to carry around, but you can also mount on a stand and use as a monitor. You'll also be able to plug in a keyboard/mouse, because typing on a tablet sucks ass

Haven't you guys seen that Asus Tablet that looks like a netbook when attached to a keyboard?
Looks pretty slick.

Our current ISP monopolies stand in the way of your revolution.
Koreans are COPPING DAT 1GB/s internet speeds while most Americans have been stuck at 3-6MB/s for the last half decade. We need a new broadband infrastructure to make super high speeds possible and there simply isn't enough open competition in this market for it.
