extreme embarrassment, not my usual group of friends (some of them were married and really judgmental)
Actually now that I remember it, I had used two different web browsers, so when I first turned it on, there was nothing objectionable on the screen (it was on the browser in the background). But when I shut the mac mini down as everyone was standing around looking at the screen, the other browser image seemed to freeze on the screen as the computer was shutting down for about 5 seconds. There was nothing that I could do other than laugh. |

When I was a college intern, I used to bring my laptop into the office because I had class right afterwards, and one time I was talking to some of the senior people about a class presentation I was supposed to give that night, and they were like "Hey, let's see it?" I said: "Really?" "Yeah, let's see it!" So I raced to get my laptop to hook up to a projector, to show the PowerPoint slides, thinking this was my big chance to impress some people there (always worried about future letters of recommendation). Went intot he conference room with them, plugged in laptop, kicked it out of sleep mode, and there it was: Internet Explorer, showing the front page of xvideos.com.
It took me about three seconds to bend down and use the trackpad to close the window. That was plenty of time for everyone to see it. No one said a word. They didn't even crack a joke. And then I gave them a rushed version of my presentation with a fully red face. |
