i am not trying to discourage you man. just saying, these goals - achieved simultaneously - are probably outside of your genetic capacity. fitness should be fun, not obsessive stat chasing. if you can actually do this, it would be like an average fit dude elevating himself to olympic caliber elite fitness, so i wish you well. it will take you years if it can happen at all.

A normal guy:

I'm like 5'10", 15 lbs overweight (which is almost all in my waist, so need to avoid skinny-fatdom)

My goal is to work out 30 minutes @ 6 days a week

I'd like to consistently run 2-3 miles and lift heavy weights a few days a week

I also want to eat better (more healthy food, less general intake)

I want to drop 10-15 lbs and gain some more muscle mass

I work out 30 minutes a day including a run, sit ups, and weights - when it's a manageable amount of time, I almost always actually do the work out.

Some days I'll do 15 minutes of running, 15 minutes of sit ups and various exercises

Some days it'll be weights and an exercise band

I read a weights book to make sure I am doing the techniques properly and focus on areas where I'd like to see improvement (mostly my arms and waist)

You sound like a beginner. Drop the sit-ups. They are bad news for your spine and lower back. Do planks, hanging leg raises, and the wheel roller.

As for weight lifting, stick to compound movements such as squats, deadlifts, bench press.

Mix up your running (sprints, intervals, long distance for endurance, timed runs)

Yeah man, I am. I'm working on my diet, I'm trying to walk more to places rather than drive, and also some reasonable work outs.

Again, 30 minutes of exercising several days a week + diet + reasonable life improvements are going to get me the results I want. If I tried hour long work outs and major changes, I probably would not succeed right away.

STATS:

6'0, 195lbs, 23 years old

don't run

Deadlift - don't do them

Squat - don't do them

Bench - used to rep 90s but can't bench at all right now

10 chinups

GOALS:

don't get too small/fat

1 mile in 5 minutes

1.5 miles in 7 minutes

2 miles in 10 minutes

Deadlift - don't care

Squat - don't care

Bench - bench without pain again

15 pullups with proper form (and no discomfort)

but really i want to be a not too fat 200lbs. 16+" arms 42+" chest and some definition.

i basically have the weakest, shittiest joints in the world.

Strained back (again) last week. Stats as of two weeks ago.

Bench: 260, 225x7

OHP: 170x4

Trap bar dead: 380x4

Squat: N/A

Mile: Never run but did 5:56 on treadmill like 2 mos. ago

Pullups: 8-12 depending on day

Pushups: 40

Would like to get bench to 300 & TB deadlift 405x5. Regain necessary flexibility to squat & achieve 315x5 to parallel.

I do manual labor for work, so I'm hoping this latest back problem isn't too serious--only had 1 or 2 spasms thus far.

5'11, 175 lbs, mid-30s, resting heart rate high 40s/ low 50s per minute, recover from max heart rate (190) at 30+ bpm

i don't lift much so i do reps of front squats around 200 lbs

my bench press / deadlifts are a joke

1 mile: 6:30 minutes I last measured it; I've gotten a lot faster since then so my guess is that it's now a little above 6 minutes

i can do 400+ cals on an echo rogue air bike within 30 minutes but i can't break 500 cals; my steady-state on a concept 2 erg is at 1100 - 1200 cals/hour for pretty long periods of time

goals

get better at jump roping (specifically, sprinting in place, crossing double-unders)

be able to do 25 consecutive pullups

learn how to do backflip burpees
