This tour is shaping up to be pretty ho-hum.

Wiggens isn't going to be a real threat to Cadel Evans and with Andy Schleck out there will be very little drama in for the GC

In the sprinting competition the only real drama will be whether Cavendish bails after the first week to get ready for the Olympics

The Tour badly needs another doping scandal to bring a little interest back, but with el pistolero serving the first of a 2 year ban for doping, none is likely to occur

At least the podium girls are prettier this year and the color commentator isnt a giant douchebag or some dope who doesn't know shit about cycling. Also I'm glad they dropped that little bitch andreu

It's got an uphill finish at 7.4% grade. Evans won a similar stage last year at Mur de Bretagne but that was a more difficult finish. This one might favor punchy riders like Cancellara more than GC guys like Evans.

Missed the end of the stage b/c of meeting. I understand there was a big crash toward the end? Was the 3km rule in effect?

I also see that Cadel got 6th place. Don't discount his ability to attack on hilly stages, as he did in the 2009 worlds when he soloed to victory from about 3k out.

Evans would never have attacked in that situation and there would have been no point to either. His main rivals would have just marked him and no lost any time. Unless there's a split in the field and a cheap shot there's not gains to be made

Sagan actually had a commanding lead for the green jersey before today. He's such an unreal talent. Only 22 years old.

Well, he's winning stages with uphill finishes that are normally won by doods like Vino or Gilbert, where typical sprinters like Cav and Greipel are spit out the back before the finish. But he is also staying top 5 or so in flat sprint stages. Sagain is picking up points left and right.

What a great finish. Wiggins' team Sky is looking crazy strong. Cadel looks like he will get little support, but is a better rider than Wiggins.

Wiggins takes the yellow jersey.

Yeah, Sky is basically the black train. How about Chris Froome? He looks to be a bigger natural talent than Wiggins, especially in the mountains. He could have and should have won the Vuelta last year, had he not been required to support Wiggins the first couple of weeks. It's too bad Froome lost time in a crash earlier this week b/c he could be sitting in 2nd place right now instead of 9th place.

WOW. Great stage. The breakaway French rider succeeded and won the stage by about 30 seconds. Amazing escape. I felt little bad for the Swede that he swallowed up on the last climb, but a fantastic finish nonetheless. Wiggins looked strong, but Cadel looks really fresh. I think Cadel puts him away in the Pyrenees.

There's rampant speculation now that Team Sky is doped up. Wiggins and Froome were unreal today, going 1-2 and beating Cadel by 1:43 and 1:08 respectively. They also both beat Cancellara, a 4 time world champion on the time trial by 0:57 and 0:35 respectively.

In unrelated news, Tyler Farrar is in second to last place in the GC. It would be very lulzy if he ended up as the lanterne rouge.

It would be very interesting to see what Sky does if Cadel or Nibali attacks Wiggins in the mountains. Wiggins doesn't have the uphill acceleration of those guys but I think Froome does. Would Sky make Froome wait for Wiggins or would they let him go?

Do you think the Sky guys are on something? Froome looks "extraterrestrial" right now. Apparently Wiggins told him to slow down the pace as they were going up Planche des Belles Filles on Stage 7. I was stunned that Froome beat Fabian Cancellara yesterday on a stage that according to Chris Horner favored TT specialists.

I would institute two new rules into the TdF to make it better:

Eliminate the slowest rider every stage after the prologue.

Reintroduce small time bonuses.

There needs to be more incentives to get people racing and less of this crap with staying with the Peloton all tour long.

These rules would create so much carnage on the road that 75% of the contenders would crash out every year. It's already bad enough this year with the likes of Hesjedal and Sanchez crashing out and F. Schleck losing major time in a crash.

Voeckler is awesome man. I love his tortured style of riding where he's rocking his body like crazy to find that extra bit of strength.

The GC this year is boring but it should be a lot more exciting next year when Contador and baby Schleck come back. I can't imagine Froome will want to keep playing second fiddle to Wiggins on Team Sky when he's clearly the superior talent. He has to be thinking of leaving.

The crazy thing about the tour this year is that the race leaders are not the strongest riders on their teams. Froome looks like he could drop Wiggins at will. And TVG is clearly strongeer and a more interesting rider than that big fat pussy Evans.

Too bad they each have shackles and task masters...would love for Froome to get pissed off and grab this thing for himself. He won't, but it'd be legendary

Shades of Riis and Ullrich in 1996 and 1997. Actually Riis said today that he thinks Froome will win this tour, that Wiggins won't be strong in the third week. I just really hate that Wiggins is a one-speed climber who NEVER attacks. Froome is more exciting to me. I hope he can come to tour in top shape next year and duke it out with Contador in the mountains. That would be a great show for the fans.

TJVG had a great day yesterday whereas Cadel had a horrible one. But don't forget that TJVG is largely unproven as a climber. I'm hoping Cadel can do something in the final week. His ability to recover deep into a grand tour is legendary. Unfortunately this year's course is complete dogshit and doesn't provide opportunities to open up gaps.
