even if someone paid you $5,000 upfront, you can't place that money in your Operating Fund until you have billed against the retainer.

tl;dr - Chances are you won't turn a profit your first year as a solo. |

Out of those 5 cases, 0 will go to trial. Maybe a trial or three a year at most.
