Huge company with different businesses, position is in very small town (not co. hq) that's 45 minutes from city of 1 million

It's definitely intriguing. But I'd have to move and if the job sucked would be stuck. Might make sense to wait for job in a place I know I like.

Another plus is they say there's opportunities to eventually move into biz positions

This is the American dream, brother. A 30 minute reverse commute ain't that bad. You get some books on tape and sports radio or Sirius and you are set. A 30 minute drive can also be a nice decompression.

They're broadly organized into 5 businesses, one of which is located in this random town. I think there's only one other inhouse lawyer at this location, no idea how many employees at this location. Apparently hundreds of inhouse lawyers company-wide

What part of the country is the small town in? A small town in New Hampshire in the Boston exurbs sounds credited as fuck. I'd be much more nervous if it's in the South, though. I have a friend from high school who works for some big company that has a corporate office in Bumblefuck, Louisiana. She absolutely hates it there. She has apparently overheard conversations among the townsfolk where they discuss recipes for cooking squirrels and said that their favorite documentary was "Ghost Hunters." Not flame. (Well, at least that's what she told me. She could be making it up.) A good job may not be worth it if you are stuck in redneck town for the foreseeable future.

Yes, 1 kid. We know some people in the 'city' (It is mostly suburbia itself). One concern is that we would hardly ever see people we know much even though we wouldn't be far away. Also could hold out for inhouse position in actual 'city' if we wanted to move there, though could always be better to jump on something and from the little I've heard this sounds better than some inhouse calls I've gotten
