Naive as fuck but I have a few Facebook buds @ M7s for the first time and they keep writing shit, not flame, about being a "global citizen" and how they are going to all these different countries for like 2 weeks or a semester. I don't get the whole MBA culture so can someone explain? They are not Wharton or Harvard or something.
On one hand it seems like total consumption for the sake of trying to look prestigious. On the other hand is it for school purposes? I just don't get it.

>e, and quite frankly we don't give a fuck about the average American. '
Sickening. This is why I think we need to start murdering business elites like they did during the French Revolution. Make them die slow.

No, you didn't and no you didn't. Most of you come from well off families and got your jobs because of connections/learning how to play the game. The idea that you are talented or intelligence is completely laughable.
In other countries access to elite schools and business jobs is decided by g loaded tests and those guys do just as good if not better than your. Your business acumen or whatever you want to call isn't fit to wipe my ass.

Bull shit. Not all do I not buy it, I doubt you buy it either. It's just part of the myth you have built up in your mind.
M7 MBA helps you get good jobs, yes, but my point is that the business elites in those countries do fine without MBAs. MBAs in America are flame because their admissions process is a joke and they each you nothing. They serve as a way for UMC people to perpetuate their own wealth and power, nothing more.

"myself and most of my classmates are self-made"
How this didn't get 100 LOLs is beyond me. You are total, fucking, flame. M7s are filled with the children of the wealthy and connected. I'm not saying they didn't get a 3.65 @ Dartmouth then go work in NYC for two years, but the whole game was rigged for them from day one.
So here are the LOLs

try going to an elite undergrad, PWNING, getting a job at top IBD or MBB, PWNING there, doing extracurriculars, getting solid recs, PWNING the GMAT, writing compelling essays, and then PWNING the interview and then get back to me.
elite b-schools accept well-rounded people while elite law schools will accept any aspie with high gpa and high lsat.

fair, but honestly, it all starts with the ug. i and many other outgoing, smart people decided to go big state, which led to not at prestigious 1st jobs, which really hurt in bschool apps
at least in law schools, the most important factors are intelligence while for bschools its did you do well in high school and did you go to an expensive college

first-year here. it's a combination of both. on one hand lot of M7 students are trying to make up for lost college years because they worked their butt off and worked demanding prestigous jobs afterwards. it's basically the chance for us geeks to be cool and live the life we deserve. so yes, a lot of it is about prestige and not missing out. much of our conversation revolves around recruiting, traveling, parties, and gossip. on the other hand, some of the trips are school sponsored (students still have to pay for it themselves), so these trips would combine sightseeing and partying with company visits and networking.

Have a decent # of HBS grads as FB friends from playing basketball @ Shad. Only one of them really "made it" as he's a partner at a recognized VC fund (not top tier, but name is instantly recognizable). I don't know how legit his partnership his because post HBS he bounced (e.g. 1 to 1.5yr tenure) between several hot tech companies so whether or not he really is a true partner or not who knows. I seriously doubt the money he made off the IPOs is what he portrays because his tenure was so short and he joined so late he couldn't have vested much.
Another was on the track at an extremely well known global firm but then must have failed to get to partner level; now he's just you're typical "senior executive". Same can be said for a Kellog MBA (Kaufman fellow as well) friend who didn't make partner at his first VC fund and now habitually bounces around as an EIR.
Bottom line, I don't think being in this "club" is any sort of guarantee. The life post-MBA might start off looking glamorous as a new associate in VC or at MBB; but if you miss the cut along the way it's nothing special.
