I resent my UG more and more every day for giving me few marketable, technical skills. I also find it really sad that adults in my life (who I now realize were either boomers or were polisci shitheads themselves) didn't encourage me to build those skills. I've finally decided against law school because I don't want to ruin my financial future and I don't want to throw my life away -- but now I have to figure out something interesting to do with my life and I have to build these important skills.
Instead of most of the majors that people choose in college, it should be required to learn a programming language, database software, a little bit of accounting and financial modeling, CRM, salesforce, a little bit of marketing and good Excel skills. Those are applicable in basically every field you can think of and are the things that, if I had them now, would enable me to find interesting work or perhaps pursue a business idea of my own. Now I'm basically trying to learn some of these things on my own in a hurry while frustratingly looking for job openings in interesting fields (all of which require background/experience I don't have).

you seem like a faggot with strong external locus of control. its not the adults fault for making you do shit and it shouldnt be REQUIRED that students learn SHIT because this is a FREE COUNTRY. ppl who are smarter than you will get those jobs if you dont realize that you're young and you can do whatever the FUCK you WANNA DO and even stemfags dont have any real skills, just because they did some faaggot chem experiments then you're going to fall by the wayside and whither in your parents basement resentful the entire time.
also those skills are things you learn on the job lol @ just learning excel on your own before job hunting
i sincerely hth.

OK, by "required" I should have said "encouraged".
Your reaction is a little strong. I'm in the process of considering my skill set and working to improve it, and just venting about how I wish this had all occurred to me a little earlier.
And I'm not withering away in my parents' basement, thanks.

"I wish I had done things differently" =/= "IT'S ALL THEIR FAULT, MY LIFE IS OVER, I'LL NEVER FIND A WAY TO LIVE WELL, I HATE THEM"
I was expressing frustration that I wasn't informed about and encouraged to do things that I now realize I should have known about and pursued. And yes, I do think that parents and universities have a responsibility to inform their children/students about how to build a marketable set of skills in order to find fulfilling work or pursue your own ventures.
I don't have an "external locus of control" -- I just didn't get practical advice earlier, and I wish I had. It's all in my hands, yes -- but goddamn it, someone could have told me about all of this stuff a few years ago and saved me some time.

You're responding in a really strident and angry way for no reason at all. This is an online forum -- you really need to relax. If you don't like the thread and you don't want to be helpful and nice, then I'd prefer if you just not post. Be a constructive critic. You're just coming off like a prick.
Edit: To be clear here, I'm taking responsibility for my life. But now that it's really clear to me that there are all of these specific skills that would be useful for me in the working world, I am indeed resentful that people in the working world who were responsible for raising me (my parents) and who were PAID for guiding me in my preparation for the working world (college administrators and professors) did not do a terribly good job of it. There is no reason I couldn't have spent a summer or a semester becoming familiar with the things I've mentioned (and other things I still don't know that I don't know) -- except for the fact that people who should have known about these things and informed me of them, either didn't know (which makes them ignorant) or didn't care to inform me (which makes them negligent or lazy).
It is evident to me, in my early 20s, that I was not even informed that certain skills exist. I do think that I should have been told, but I wasn't told. I'm figuring it out as I go and doing my best, but I definitely think others failed in their duties in obvious ways -- and it wouldn't have taken them much effort to inform and guide me properly.

TBH the CR path for you is to find any kind of corp job then work for a few years and cop MBA. If you have a 3.5 GPA from a T100 UG and 700+ GMAT you'll probably get into at least one 7-14 ranked MBA program or a local school in the market of your preference. You were willing to take on law school debt/opp. cost if law didn't blow so it should not be hard to plug this into the MBA route.
If you're really savvy you might find a kooky non-trad gig that MBA programs will like. As for what that is, I have no idea.

currently asking the same situation as OP. you probably dont need to go back to school, and if you do, get some free certificate - dont pay for more school.
I think the best route for us is to try to get a lower tier consulting job or a job in government relations/marketing at a big firm in a cool city where you want to live. if you are smart/have the work ethic to get into a T14 law school, you can succeed in this kind of environment.
the entry level job might suck, but if you put in some work I imagine you can rise to a nice low 6 figure salary. if you make it there in 6-7 years, you are in a better position than you would have been going to a T14 at sticker debt. somewhere along the line if you hate your job, go get an MBA and try to get your company to pay for it.
further, you probably have no business going to LS and not pursuing this route first. if things dont work out for you then maybe you can justify LS.

Just do MBB, bro.
Seriously, all of my academic and career advisors told me the same thing, as if a high GPA from a top UG were sufficient to secure me employment, even at places like Deloitte, Oliver Wyman, and Parthenon.
