I was eating popcorn in row ZZ of the Felt Forum watching Hogan slam Andre on a CCTV.

I was at the Bunkhouse Stampede Championships and a War Games cage show at Nassau Coliseum (the WG was the night before Flair regained from Garvin at Starrcade).

I've been to probably 100 shows from CZW, ECW, IWA Mid South, the Ted Petty, NWA, Chikara, ROH, JAPW, PWG, WWC, NJPW.

I was tape trading in the 90s. I am pretty sure my collection was a large part of what became the RF Video library as we traded heavily back and forth.

You may be at my level (I will even grant that as true), but I am a true junkie. I've tapered off in the last couple of years.

I think younger fans don't really understand how influential the horsemen were like beyond flair, tully and arn were next level talents. I think tully, in particular, could have headlined any company that DIDNT also employ flair.

I would also add brody. a lot of wrestlers are just poor man's brodys. see LUKE HARPER.

His mic work was a lot like Bockwinkle's vibing off of Heenan. He would have needed JJ (or Arn). Not saying they are same quality as Bocks is likely the most underrated talker ever.

The best build was AMW vs. XXX. That built for what, two solid years? Skipper walking the cage is still the biggest "Holy shit" spot I've seen, next to the first time I saw Shane jump the Tron and New Jack attempting to murder Vic Grimes mid-match.

It's probably one of the Angle/Joe series or one of the early AJ/Low Ki matches.

I'm only at the 2nd episode of Lucha right now. It's a lot different from what I expect from wrestling, but I like it. The production values are fantastic and the show is a lot of fun. I've been hearing it gets really great towards the end of the season.

I'm amazed that they actually have something with a heel New Day. They need to becareful with the racial shit right now though. Don't bother with the rest of the show besides the tag match

That would have been fantastic. Apparently Hero's problem was that he thought he was too good for NXT (which he was) which pissed Ppl off and wouldn't lose enough weight.

1) heel new day is great. i can see big things for them.

2) hero really is his own biggest mark. tbf, that he made it this far with his look is amazing. he can talk his ass off. Him and Larry Sweeney (RIP) were my favorite indy talkers and were paired a bunch of places and I could have easily seen them taking that act to big time WWE, etc.

3) Neville--people gonna get tired of his work in 6 months. not that it's bad, but american fans just have a short attention span for this shit

honestly, with the success of NXT i feel like the quality of matches now is very, very high in terms of workrate. dudes like neville are just as good if not better than dudes like kidman ever were. the biggest problem with wrestling these days is that the booking is boring as hell. WWE has a hard time creating compelling stories in the PG era.

Guys like Neville are very athletic, but he doesn't know how to tell a story in a match like guys like Ultimo did. Honestly I feel like nevilles stuff looks more like acrobatics than the wrestling I grew up with. Work rate has IMPROVED, but it's not like 90s was with Benoit, Jericho, malenko, Ultimo, juvi, Guerrero etc

I get that point, but match psychology is something you only learn over time in the bigs. I still live Neville has it. I don't disagree that workrate at the top of the mid-card was better in the 90s (though i think dudes like Rollins are easily on par with those greats), but overall workrate is a lot better now than at any time in history. If they could just hire some writers with half a fucking brain to handle the book, this could be a golden age.

When Ted DiBiase used Andre the Giant to win the belt and then bought it from him, prompting WWF President Jack Tunney to vacate the belt and stage the tournament at Wrestlemania IV. DiBiase used Andre to eliminate Hogan (by joint disqualification or count out or somtheing), but ran into Macho Man in the finals who was helped by Hogan to win the belt, thus forming the Mega Powers.

I'm partial because, as I said upthread, I hung out with Hawk on occasion when I was younger; he was a family friend.

Would still objectively take the Road Warriors though.

The thing that most saddened me about Sting coming to WWE was that he had always been the easy answer to the question "Who is the most accomplished modern American wrestler never to work for the WWE?" Now it's...Jesus, I don't know, maybe Samoa Joe? (although I think he might've done Heat once back in his early days)

Now that Joe’s a full time WWE jobber, I figure the Credited Response has to be Kenny Omega

Kenny's a full time AEW jobber now. I don't understand the way that they're booking him

All of the Elite are losing a lot. Clearly they're planning a redemption angle (possibly to coincide when The Villain comes in)

I would think so, but Tanahashi and Okada would be reasonable picks too.

good point on Okada for NJPW + All In coupled with his TNA run back while they were still on Spike

(Young Bucks were on Velocity from what I recall or I’d say them)

He already turned probably millions from AEW. I'm sure he and WWE could work out some part-time arrangement if he was interested. I'm not holding my breath.

Andre hated baby oil and had a hard time working with it. Savage was covered in it all the time and told Andre to fuck off when Andre demanded he not use it for their matches.

If you were watching in the mid-2000s, he was *the* guy for that, since you were probably not seeing much of Místico or AJ Styles.
