Through circumstances I can't quite recall, I'm FB friends with this 30-something Azn chick who lives in NYC. Her FB posts are numerous (especially since she joined Instagram) and sometimes end up in my feed, and I've started to notice some, uh, amusing XO aspects popping up in them.
So, I thought I'd post them. I won't put up a pic but it's probably relevant to say that she's a slightly overweight Azn woman who is in her mid-30s and definitely looks it. She has about 1,100 total friends.
Since I can't use her real name, I will henceforth call her Emma in all future posts.

A classic from 2013, when she started posting Notes about her dating life:
1 Day, 2 Dates
Date 1 --
A lesson in failing:
Emma: I like hotel bars.
*Discussion about hotel bars ensues*
I-Banker: Let me know when you want to grab a drink.
Emma: Sure. & I won't be in shorts, so we can go to the Pentop (in the Peninsula Hotel).
I-Banker: Or we can just go to an Irish pub.
Date 2 --
A lesson in winning:
*Online conversation about NY landmarks*
Real Estate Consultant: Have a place in mind?
Emma: Morton's Steak House?
Real Estate Consultant: If you like steak... Let's meet at Wolfgang's, corner of Park & 33rd. I'll give you the historical significance over wine.
*Emma to herself: Is this guy for real? Yes, please!*
Friend: Where did he go to school?
Emma: I don't know...
Friend: You don't know? You always know!
Emma: I just think it's awesome he knows so much about architecture.
Friend: Wow...
*Seated at Wolfgang Puck's Steakhouse, a gentleman comes over & proceeds to have a conversation with Real Estate Consultant. Gentleman tells Real Estate Consultant how he is expanding into Florida, etc, etc.*
Real Estate Consultant: That was Wolfgang.
*Real Estate Consultant proceeds to order jumbo shrimp & crabcakes for our appetizers. Yes, he orders for both of us. Then he gets a steak while I opt for tuna.
*We spend three hours at the restaurant.
He takes me on a walking tour of Grand Central.
Then we spend another two hours driving & talking in his beautiful Beemer.
Our date ends a little after midnight.
He even got out to open the car door for me.*
Several times during the date:
Real Estate Consultant: I'm sorry for boring you with all this useless trivia about buildings.
Emma: Are you kidding me??? I love it! It's the reason I agreed to the date.

Also from 2013:
Emma's Friends, Not Impressed
So, I thought my friends would be so happy I went out with a non-Ivy, non-banker that I'm willing to see again. I'd even consider dating him exclusively.
Emma: Then he said XYZ.
Friend's (Harvard AB, Wharton MBA) wife (Columbia): He sounds like a pretentious gasbag.
Later in the night...
Emma: Years ago, I went out with a guy (Exclusive prep school, Ivy undergrad, Ivy MBA consultant) -- He was so proud he had the millionaire playboy's outfit featured in the movie, before the movie came out.
Same friend's wife: He also sounds like a gasbag. It's OK that he owns the outfit, but to be proud of it & mention it to you? No.
- - -
"You're dating another finance guy? I'm so surprised. I'm so happy for you, Emma!"
Said no one ever.
Haha. (Well, I'm amused.)

From two weeks after dreamy architecture-obsessed real estate guy:
Idio(t)syncratic
Smart, cultured, blond who rowed crew during prep school in the NorthEast. In his 30s. Lives in Manhattan, right by Central Park. Large vocabulary. Uses words like dénouement in casual conversation. Very traveled. Into art, literature & good food. Owns two Omega watches. Idiosyncratic. Just my type.
Long first date -- 3:30 to 9PM. Nice amount of laughing. Things went fairly well & we both seemed interested in seeing each other again... Until he walked me 6 blocks short of the subway station. ??? Either walk me all the way or not at all. Is it too Seinfeld to consider this a dealbreaker?

3 days after the idiot:
Well, That's Different
Almost two weeks ago, I'm talking to this guy online about international travel. (I miss it soooooo much!!!) Every day or so, he continues to email me (Casual conversation about work, weather, books, etc.) & send me photos (golfing). A few days ago, we start texting. I learn that he:
-- Is Irish, 5'11" & 160 pounds. 37 years old. Preppy dresser, complete with red pants. Liberal. Introvert.
-- Graduated from University College Cork (A). PhD in infectious diseases from NYU.
-- Career change has him working in a hedge fund in SoHo.
-- Moved to NY 16 years ago. Lived on the UES, now in CT (natch) in a house with a pool.
-- Will be choosing between the BMW M5 & a Maserati over the course of the next year.
-- Never married, no kids. Close to family, who lives in Ireland. Parents also have an apartment in Nice, France.
-- Travels to Europe at least six times a year. Rides horses & took sailing lessons. He's a foodie.
-- Doesn't think I need to lose weight & wants me to wear whatever makes me comfortable.
Several days ago, his parents arrive for a three week stay with him. Of course, I'm thinking we're never going to meet up.
We decide to make it happen. We met up yesterday after he was done with work. He arrives suited up. Grey pinstripes, white shirt, tie, cuff links.
It's brief. An hour, then he's gone. I'm never going to see him again, right? Refer to my 5+ hour first dates (plural) with other men that didn't pan out.
We continue to text. Surprising. Even more surprising, he stayed a little later after work today just to see me for literally 3 minutes as I headed my meeting at Huffington Post. Just to see me smile. How sweet!!!
Sounds great, right?
-- His schedule: Bedtime at 10:30PM, WakeUp at 4:46AM. Mine (When I'm not working): Bedtime at 3AM, WakeUp around noon.
-- He IS SUPER, SUPER OUTDOORSY. WUT??? He is at peace when he is in nature. His idea of a vacation is flying to Germany to go rock climbing & go on 20 mile hikes.
My idea of a vacation is flying to Switzerland to go super luxury shopping & eat every meal at a different high-end restaurant. NO CAMPING!!!
Seriously, World? :\
Will this ultimately be futile?
(A) I had never heard of University College Cork, but according to Wikipedia:
The university was named Irish University of the Year by the Sunday Times in 2003,[5] 2005, and 2011. In 2011, the QS World University Rankings[6] ranked the university amongst the top 2% of universities worldwide. The university also received a 5-star rating in the QS University Rankings 2011.

After a commenter suggests she could adapt her own life habits to mesh better with a great guy, she follows up:
"He refuses to compromise, starting that he is an "inflexible twit". Over. Next!"

Another 2 weeks pass:
Yay!
After three days of MEH (Poor sleep, bad weather & the need to EAT ALL THE THINGS), I had a good day.
Decent sleep last night. Great weather.
Walked past the 12 block radius of my apartment.
Strolled through a Sephora on my way to lunch with another finance guy (Equities Analyst). Laughed out loud when he asked me which college I attended, before I asked him. He’s a Fordham alumnus. Because Ippudo was closed, we discovered acute little place named Gemma. Neither of us felt chemistry (I think), but fun conversation with genuine laughter. We share a lot of the same values. Gave me hope that there are still some good guys out there. Hope we stay friends.
After he left, I walked through SoHo. Couldn’t resist taking a spin through Louis Vuitton. They have a hot stamp machine now! I can bring my merchandise (souvenirs from my former life) in to be personalized on the spot. Had a nice little chat with the artist, too. Wish I had gotten my Speedy painted by her.
Spent the rest of the day taking more photos of Manhattan.
Discovered a new tea: Junshan Yinzhen. Fermented yellow that most people don’t know about. Too light for my taste, but I enjoyed trying it. Maybe I’ll try the Anji Baicha next time.
Isaac's mother called me to invite me to dinner in Westchester again. So kind!
Found a cute little lounge in Tribeca.
Stopped by Barnes & Noble to read Watch Time Magazine. The buckle ALONE on the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 3 consists of 100 parts. WANT.
Rested by the Hudson River for a bit. Lovely, balmy breezes.
Made some Italian spinachpasta for dinner. (Thank you, Mommy!)
Received a surprise text from 323 Hedge Fund Guy at 11PM. Totally legit. It’s not THAT kind of call – He’s out with friends. :P
It was a good day.

A month later:
I am A Horrible, Shallow Person
He: Would you like to go out sometime?
Me: Maybe. What are you doing tomorrow? Can you tell me a little about you? What are your hobbies? What do you like to read? Etc.
He: It isn't a big deal to me who you are or what your education level. I don't have to read. I was just looking to enjoy a day with someone new. As well as all the other nonsense, you did ask what I was doing tomorrow. What I am doing tomorrow is not wasting my time making a resume for someone who thinks all those insane questions matter. What does my favorite book have anything to do with anything... Do you think before you type, seriously?!? Goodnight. It is stereotypical. Just shows how shallow you are.
- - -
Yes, *I* should think before I type. Clearly.
So THIS is why I'm still single. I want a man who READS! For shame!!

Yet another month passes:
B is Not for Banker?? B is currently for [Microbial and Molecular] Biologist
Lovely date with MMB on Saturday, after half a dozen fails of trying to coordinate our schedules. We had a leisurely brunch at of my favorite restaurants in Tribeca, followed by a walk along the Hudson River in perfect weather. Discussed entrepreneurship, medicine, art, philosophy, food, school, travel, business... LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!!
He's very successful, driven & ambitious. British, complete with accent. At university, he played squash & rowed in sculls. Lives in Manhattan & has no plans to move off the island in the foreseeable future -- In fact, he just moved into a larger apartment earlier this year. Loves to travel -- Been to over 40 countries. Not 2,000 years old. The wristwatch situation, however -- May be forced to take over if we do end up together. Ha. :P At least I can tell he actually likes watches & owns more than one.
I told him I'd be away for several days in Duxbury & Hanover. Our second date is tomorrow before I leave mid-week.

Two days later (I should mention that with these notes I am not skipping ANY of them):
Shop Like The Emma
*After a full day of Friend's search to replace her Kate Spade handbag*
Emms: So, if you ever find the perfect purse again...
Friend: I'm going to do the Emma & buy 6 of them!
* Emma nods smugly* :D

Pretty long gap, going into 2014:
TigerGirl Can't Change Her Stripes! #ForeverAlone (Since 2008*)
Saturday --
Friend: How is your dating life?
Emma: Non-existent!
Friend: Well, you do insist on 81 requirements...
Sunday --
TigerGrandPa: When am I getting [wedding] cake??
Emma: I haven't dated [regularly] anyone in 6 years!
TigerDad: That's because of your long laundry list!
A couple of years ago --
Friend2: You have really high standards.
Emma: I edited down my list a lot!
Friend2: Men can sense that you feel you're settling.
* Pre-2008, she was never single for more than a month since she started dating during her first year at college. She blames a change in mentality (People interested in long-term relationships are now a tiny minority?? Attached people don't believe me when I tell them this, but all they have to do is read the many articles on how dating has changed in the past decade.) & the economy. Yes, the economy -- It's making everyone super grumpy. People working 24/7 & still afraid of losing their jobs are understandably less than carefree/fun.

Another gap of several months:
This Month on Forever Alone...
Given how much entertainment my dating life provides, why don’t I have a reality show??
>>> Two weeks ago --
Emma: I'll introduce you to my friend. He’s several years older than you, six feet tall, good career with a very reputable, international company, great apartment in a Manhattan luxury building with doorman. Plays on a competitive sports league. He’s social, throws dinner parties. Loves to travel & cook.
Friend: He sounds AMAAAZING. Why don’t YOU date him??
Emma: Um… He’s not preppy enough?
Friend: Maybe you are TOO picky!
* Emma chuckles inappropriately at her cat lady future, possibly still in denial. *
>>> Last week --
Date: I’m French. I’m from France & I speak French.
Emma: I would not have guessed that to be a French accent. German maybe. In fact, French wouldn’t even be in my top three guesses.
Date: I’m half German.
(Mid-way through dinner) Date: I have a wife in Europe & a girlfriend in Japan. American women don’t like me. Are you shocked?
Emma: Not really.
(Shortly after) Date: So, shall we KISS??
Emma: No.
MaleFriend: After hearing your dating story, I wasn't quite sure what you were taking away from the experience. It may cause you to re-evaluate the early screens because someone this far off base is certainly not worthy of a second date, but perhaps not even a first… It may suggest, if people of such lifestyles keep appearing in the screening process, that there is something amiss about the subject population. This was actually my first thought - most people don't want to be continually dating Tom Buchanan, though Gatsby has his own issues.
Of course, going that far suggests a re-evaluation of worldview, but that might not be on the table.
Emma: He was like Jekyll & Hyde. But yes, there is a problem with the subject population in general.
More importantly, how much do I love your literary reference, Dr. Hardcore Science???
(MaleFriend is a research biologist who did his undergrad studies at Harvard, PhD studies at Yale & post-doc at MIT.)
* Worldview: #ForeverAlone *
>>> Last night --
Emma: He took me to Bouley, not knowing it’s one of my favorites. We spent three hours at dinner, then another two walking.
Friend: I hope you see him again. Sounds like you had a good first date.
Emma: We’ll see.
Friend: So, who is he??
Emma: Let's just say he's very smart.
Friend: Of course he is! I don't see you with anything less.
Emma: :)
Friend: Some girls go for the cool guy with swagger. That probably bores you.
Emma: The cool guys with swagger are fun, but they are not relationship material for me. My dates often end up sounding like MBA team meetings.
Friend: Hey - if that's what gets you going...
Emma: Biochemistry degree from a top-tier technology institute. Apparently, Columbia accepts three students a year straight out of college, no work experience – He was one of those three. He was 22 years old at the time he started the program, & thought it was not as challenging as it should be. He would tell his professors that the exams were too easy! He currently works for a Wall Street firm.
Friend2: Hmm. He seems a smidge socially awkward. Doesn't mean he doesn't have potential. He's definitely someone with a taste for the finer things in life, including his dining and his women. If he were too smooth, I'd actually worry about him. You might just need to guide him a little. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Emma: Right now, I need a FUN, exclusive relationship with lots of travel to European cities.
Friend2: Well,he knows you're intelligent and can keep up with him, if not inspire him. That's an important thing to establish. Knock 'em dead, girl.
Background aside --
(From a conversation at the beginning of the summer)
Emma: I’m attracted to type A men. But I’m not type B.
MaleFriend2: So you want to be an A- dating an A.
Emma: YES!
End of aside --
Emma: Keep up with him? This one runs circles around me. He’s like type A^5.
Friend2: But if he's socially awkward, it could be that he doesn't realize it. And you might end up having to ask the right questions to crack the code, all while not quite giving away how lost you are (or aren't). It's a bit like playing double dutch, mentally. And that can be fun in itself, particularly if he's still enjoying your company. It's not necessarily that he's more intelligent - you just happen to specialize in very different areas.
Emma: You’re too kind. :)
Friend3: You Insta food on the first date? You hussy.
Emma: Insta'ing on the first date is a good screening process. ;D He told me to go for it -- Don't be oppressed! LOL I still resisted using flash, though. Two months ago, I had a date who told me there would be no second date if I took a photo. I didn't want to see him again anyway, so I photo'd away!
>>> & now for a #OnePercentProblem --
When these super fancy restaurants give you a treat on your way out & you have to carry it for the rest of the night.
>>> & now for something random --
Last night's date lives in ex-Fiance 2's dream apartment complex. If we do end up dating, I'll explain the weird coincidences in my life.

I'm very sad that I'm following a no-pics policy for this because the picture of her in date dress for this post is hilarious:
Finally, a Worthy Suitor!
Wednesday & Thursday, I went two dates with the SAME guy! He is EXTREMELY intelligent -- In literature, language & law among other topics. One of the smartest people I've ever met, & I always surround myself with smart people. Well traveled, well read, philanthropic, compassionate, athletic & professionally accomplished. Observant & communicative. Affectionate. Confident. Grounded. Charming & personable when he wants to be -- Makes sure to learn everyone's name & treats everyone with respect. DESPISES elitism* & combats any form of bullying. Prefers me raw than polished. Seeks a long-term, committed relationship.
Of course, next week, he leaves the country for five weeks. #DatingProblems
* He (of multiple Ivy degrees including a JD from a top 3 law school) disapproves of my [Ivy UGrad] obsession. "It shouldn't matter where you went to school, focus on your accomplishments now." Also, "I'm not on Facebook because I don't care what doughnut you had for breakfast."

Some of the follow-up comments to this one are great (all from her):
"He has the suit & ties. He has a vast collection of cufflinks. He has preppy clothes & is willing to wear them for me, but it's not his default. He veers super casual if he doesn't need to dress for a specific occasion. He also has a Harley Davidson??? In addition to a BMW motorcycle. He's not the Ducati type."
"Clarification: OMFG, he is SMART, processes EXTREMELY quickly AND applies his knowledge effectively to produce proven results. He's not just book smart. He is a man of action, not merely words. (& he has a MASSIVE vocabulary.)
Yet, he retains his humanity."
"& if you're wondering, he looks like William Balwin, pictured here:
http://seriesandtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/william-baldwin-be-my-valentine-hallmark.jpg
But with much shorter hair. (That I'm going to ask he grow out.)"
"Friend, I haven't said anything negative about him... Quite the contrary. I wouldn't believe this person existed if described this way to me.
He thinks my crazy is "lovable". We'll see how long that lasts! LOL."
And then, the best one:
"We Skyped last night... (I need to give him a public nickname -- Perhaps Pascalou where we had our first date & he has a dedicated table.)
Emma: I love watches.
Pascalou: I have a Patek Philippe. Have you heard of it?
As someone known for her deep love of fine watches & regularly consulted for advice by friends & strangers (In fact, currently having a private conversation about purchasing in Switzerland, with someone from A Small World that I've never met offline nor had lengthy conversations with...), I wanted to scream, "Yes, I have heard of Patek Philippe! I am NOT impressed just because you own one." But I refrained & in my hesitation, he continued to tell me how Rolex doesn't make the best watches. Oh, if he could see the expression on my face (I didn't have video turned on)...

3 days later:
I Meant it as a COMPLIMENT!!!
Emma: He's so smart, I'd be interested in him even if he were only making $80K.

That's the end of the notes, so here's one of her Instagram statuses from last night:
Edited down due to Doobs. Suffice it to say she tagged no fewer than 26 different things in a post that couldn't have been more than 60 words.

Altogether, she posted 36 photos (with about 12 different statuses) from a party she attended last week. All of them had 20-plus hashtags. Most were posted at about 4 AM.
Edit: Whoops, she actually posted over 100 photos from that party, it's just that most were posted last week and she finished in the last couple days.

Okay, skipping past all the Instagram shit. Here's a post from December:
"I am not simple. I am a challenge for any man, I will admit. As hard as I try to be the simple girl, it is just not in my nature to be one. I demand more from everyone because I see great potential.
I only want the best for myself and for my partner, so I will never just go along with some semblance of a mediocre, passionless relationship.
An unevolved man or a boy will always want the simple girl. He doesn’t want to have to work hard for anything, especially not a relationship. He doesn’t want to be challenged or confronted.
But, a real man knows that by being with a complicated girl, he will be better for it. At times, this girl can be difficult, but he knows her intentions are good. With healthy communication, the relationship will become stronger.
This is the type of girl you should marry. You may think it’s not what you want, but you want her. The easy girl will never satisfy you. She will be sweet but uninspiring. She will always leave you wanting more."

Here's a gem from last year that sheds some light on her professional situation:
"Dear Friends who cannot comprehend how I don't have a "normal job" at the moment, please read this new Harvard Business Review article (in its entirety, not just the excerpt below) by Dorie Clark. I know you don't mean to be malicious, but some of your comments have been rather insensitive. I have been making huge personal and financial sacrifices to create a meaningful bridge to my next career step. I am working SO much harder than you might know -- A 9 to 5 job seems like a vacation in relative terms. I simply ask that you respect the fact that your circumstances & decisions might not be mine.
"And yet [she's now quoting the article, to be clear], despite the irony that, in some ways, I’m still doing my old job but without a paycheck, I’m now making (depending on the year) up to 10x more than my old salary. As Internet theorist Doc Searls has described, instead of making money “from” writing, I’m now earning it “because of” the exposure it provides me and the related opportunities generated in public speaking, consulting, and teaching. On one hand, I’m moving backward: blogging (oftentimes) for free is pretty lame for a former professional journalist who has been writing for nearly 15 years. On the other, I’m more successful professionally and financially than I’ve ever been. What I’ve discovered in this age of disruption is that for many of us, the reason we’re not moving forward as fast as we’d like is, ironically, our fear of going backward..."
We hear all the time from innovation and startup gurus that we have to be “willing to embrace failure.” What that really means is you must be able to afford to fail. Failure is expensive — in time, reputation, and money. But over time, the willingness to take chances (that may fail) is an investment in your future success."
Thank you to those friends who have supported me in this time of great transition, with food, love & humor. [Tags about ten people]

*Friend1 looking over my shoulder as I read a private message from a WellingtonBook man, which literally contains one word: hey*
Friend1: Really? No subject. No punctuation.
Emma: But he's wearing a green velvet tux!
Friend2: That sounds like what a wizard would wear while trying to imitate a Muggle.
Emma: I don't even know what that means.
Friend1: You don't have to know what it means other than it's a bad sign!
Emma: Aren't you impressed I even knew that was a Harry Potter reference?

Commenting on every single red-carpeter at the 2012 Oscars:
Angelina Jolie — Material too heavy. Length too long. Nice lipstick.
Jessica Chastian — Lovely embellishment, but overwhelms her frame.
Shailene Woodley — Cool design but the top is too reminiscent of a church confessional grate.
Rose Byrne — Top portion does not flatter. Fewer sequins would make her look less like a wet, oily sea otter.
Anne-Sophie Bion — Didn't we just see the sequined version on Rose Byrne?
Bingbing Li — Where is the groom?
Michelle Williams — All the clamshell ruffles just make me want to order a seafood platter.
Brett McKenzie — Yes! smile emoticon I don't know who this is, but I like that he's having fun.
Esperanza Spalding — Did your stylist run out of time to steam out the bottom?
Jane Seymour — Nice color. But boring & does not accentuate her waist.
Judy Greer — My favorite so far, but makes me think of highway lane dividers.
Viola Davis — Does not flatter at all.
Sacha Baron Cohen — As long as he's having fun.
Missi Pyle — Does not flatter at all.
Natalie Portman — How many ladybugs were killed to make that dress?
Melissa McCarthy — Love the movement of the sleeve.
Michel Hazanavicius — He might want to try a size larger for pants?
Maya Rudolph — I don't care for the dress, but it's a safe option.
Berenice Bejo — Nice dress but I would have opted for a different color.
Virginia Madsen — Too much heavy fabric swallows her waist.
Nick Krause and Amara Miller — Would have liked a more playful bowtie. Her dress is too mature for her.
Leah Thompson — Yes. My second favorite dress.
Morgan Spurlock — Don't care for the thin, black tie. At all.
Sherri Shepherd — I would have gone with less contract underneath.
Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann — Best dressed couple so far.
Kate Mara — Not sure about that flap that goes over the right arm. Her posture is distracting.
Kelly Ripa — Speaking of posture, Kelly works it!
Kristen Wiig — No. Looks like she stepped out in her underpinnings only.
Gary Oldman — His date is wearing my favorite dress so far.
Emma Stone — The enormous bow is a little distracting, as is the faded-looking hem.
Stacy Kiebler — The neckline is divine but the huge rose at the hip needs to go.
Diddy — Not caring for his bowtie. Wondering what kind of watch he's wearing.
Ellie Kemper — The colors of her dress coordinates with her hair very well.
Meryl Streep — Love her. She looks fantastic, but the dress is way too baggy.
Matthew Lillard — Suit is too large. Different shoes, too, please.
Anna Faris — Wow. The House Bunny is REALLY covered up!
Octavia Spencer — Pretty dress. Why does she look so displeased?
Pharrell Williams — I like the playful smirk. Don't care for the piping on the lapel & vest, however.
Stopping here unless anyone really wants me to continue….

"It comes as no surprise to anyone who knows me, & especially those who know me via my enduring love for exclusive timepieces (Hi aSmallWorld!), that I would be quoted in a article about highly educated Manhattan women who covet $150,000 purses. (As a high school student on the Upper East Side, I had a subscription to Vogue (The adult version) & coveted the Hermes Kelly. Birkin is just too big, even for me.)
But don't worry future Husband, I wouldn't spend more than $10,000 on a bag... OK, OK... $20,000 tops. (Notice I don't give an amount for wristwatches? LOL. (Oh, when will you be mine, my precious Lange 1??? http://monochrome-watches.com/lange-1-daymatic/)) My personality would never survive the kind of male dominance described by Dr. Wendy Martin (The Yale version of the Princeton Mom?), however. ‪#ForeverAlone"

Oh boy, another dating post, from last week:
"Somehow I went from NOTHING to having a 24 year old & a 50 year old interested in me. Do I want to be a cougar or a kitten?
Update for those of you who "need" more information:
24 year old is a HYP (Harvard Yale Princeton) boy. When I mentioned [School], he asked why he would go to a second tier Ivy. 😒 Works at Goldman. 6'4" & looks like jailbait Jude Law. Plays violin. Maybe fluent in French. Lives in my neighborhood.
50 year old is UC Berkeley environmental engineer & serial entrepreneur. 5'10" & very boyish good looks. Nice voice. He's not intimidated by my personality. Drives a custom Audi A7 & is serious about his wine. Lives in SF but has an office in Manhattan."

LMAO, this is from one day before the post about having two different guys into her. Not sure if this just describes one of them or if she is shrewing it up to the max:
"Started October by calling Teke to express that I am .not. amused by his recent [lack of] actions.
(Ah, the joys of dating me! grin emoticon It takes a strong man to survive more than a month with me. I like it that way, though. ‪#‎DatingProblems‬)
Teke: Do you have a history with him? Did you guys date?
Emma: Date??? I reprimand him almost EVERY time we have a phone call! He & I would NEVER date.
Teke: You're pretty rough on him.
Emma: When I am not satisfied, I don't mince words. I am extremely blunt. You'll never need to guess where you stand with me. I'll tell you directly. ...You already saw that tonight at the beginning of this call.
Teke: It did not bother me. I understand & I'm happy about it. I like it this way & I know you do, too.
*Impressed* *Surprised* ‪#‎TeamTeke‬
We'll see how I feel when we conduct a year end review. LOL. But seriously..."

yeah.
here is the thing. it's all bullshit. all of it. but if you take that kinda thing seriously, paying what you pay to send your kid to Packer is a fail.
if you're good parents and your kid is a decent, hard working kid, you get the same results for Packer from Morrow, Midwood and a bunch of other public HS that are not the specialized schools.
These schools are, to no one's surprise, about networking at a young age. but ROFL they're being so indoctrinated in nonsense and, in particular, self-loathing of their privilege that they will likely waste all of that capital. It's just hilarious.

Friend2: "What does professional mean to you? Professional and successful comes in so many ways."
Emma: "Achieved their goals career-wise [LOL this is a great euphemism], love their job & looking to greater achievements. I'm confused by these questions..."
Friend2: "Great achievements" and "achieved their goals career-wise" usually = makes a lot of money, that's all.
What if the career goal was to be a high school English teacher? Or a really good fireman who saved lives? Or a really great artist who owned his own studio?
Also, why does someone have to love their job? I don't love my job and likely never will, but my career enables me to pursue outside passions -- which is what I REALLY live for. I know many successful, attractive men feel similar."
Emma: "If the career goal was to be a high school English teacher & he is, then great. He's successful. He reached his goal. Simple." [Note: I have never seen her post about dating a teacher]
Emma: "PERSONALLY, not everyone needs to agree with me, I prefer men who love their jobs. I've met too many that hate their job & it's a super downer. It's not something I want to deal with in my relationship right now. It's so nice to be with men who love their job & aren't griping about it 24/7. They are exhilarated by their career, whether it be as a HS English teacher or fireman, & it's joyous."

Brother, I am fascinated by this chick. The pure delusion with regards to dating, the barely disguised panic as to her employment status, the ever-so-gentle pushback from concerned friends in the comments (buried in the pile of you-go-girl sycophancy). I can't get a good sense for how much she believes her own hype -- does she really think she's going to beat the odds and find a man to her standards, and does she really think she's working unbelievably hard to carve out her own professional path? Or is she just putting on a brave face for her friends?
Did you know she has at least two other facebook accounts? It looks like one has a lot of undergrad stuff and the other is slightly newer. Both under her real name.

Someone posted the pic of this chick at some point in this thread and she is a horrific looking asian chick (I say this as someone who is pretty generous with describing female attractiveness, not like crazy XO poster description of hideous).
I laugh everytime I see a Wolfgang's or hear it referenced, because I think of this heinous looking shrew, who thinks she's fucking high class, thinking it's fucking Wolfgang Puck.

The image below is an exchange with a Wellesley College alumna I met virtually via a social Facebook group. This conversation about technology wouldn't have happened if I did not post photos from [name]'s #WomenWhoCode class today. [Name] was also at this event because she's been welcomed into G.Crew. I met her via [name] via Yelp. Yes, Yelp.
Earlier this week, I went to a Dartmouth Entrepreneurship Network (DEN) event where an alumnus introduced himself by telling me that he recognized me from Facebook photos with two fellow Dartmouth alumni. Also in the group was another Dartmouth alumnus I met at Internet Week because I was wearing a Dartmouth shirt."

Great example...this attractive, rich, well educated Britt stays at work hours late just to see her for 5 minutes?? Either A) this didn't happen and she is lying or B) he gets no attention ever from women and is actually a fat ugly dude who looks 50 at 38.

A doozy of a thread from last night:
"Tonight's date to me, "You can afford membership to a private club, you went to Dartmouth."
*thousand-yard-stare face*
#DatingProblems #ForeverAlone"
This one generated quite a few comments. The better excerpts:
Friend A: "I went to Dartmouth and I can't afford a pizza."
Emma: "It's too bad we are incompatible in so many ways. He's attractive, smart & very familiar with Dartmouth."
Friend B: "More importantly, can you afford it and do you value it at that amount..."
Emma: "I'm saving for an apartment. Plus, I need dental work. Plus, other health bills. #AdultProblems"
Friend C: "Pray tell how did he find out you went to Dartmouth?"
Emma: "He asked me. I was trying to avoid revealing it."
Friend C: "And so what if you can't afford a private club, does that poison the date?"
Emma: "Apparently, it was one of many strikes against me?"

But I can safely say I stuck to my principles even if there WAS strong compatibility."
Questions from friends produce the follow revelation for why the dating effort failed:
"The most recent guy sounded so compatible, THEN he suddenly found it "problematic" that I do not consider having one dinner together as dating (& consequently would not engage in all the activities associated with dating ASAP.). Dude, I don't even know you. I find it problematic that you would even expect me to behave thusly! Especially in light of the messages we exchanged."

General recent trend: She has started to post INSTAGRAM VIDEOS of her meals. The shot always open with her hand holding some food/drink item (with the Dartmouth ring visible) and then pans around the room.

Excellent, hearty portion of grilled chicken over a bed of squash. There's no sauce, but the chicken was flavorful thanks to a generous sprinkling of herbs. Yes. This is what I've been waiting/looking for (Since 2010!!!):
"Someone who isn’t intimidated by your intellect but intrigued by it, and is even willing to challenge you with different perceptions to help you grow stronger. Wait for someone who is completely honest with you in every aspect, and leaves you no reason to mistrust them in any situation. Don’t settle for someone who spends time playing games and causes you to over-analyze every encounter you have with them."

Shared this post by some other guy with the hashtag #jobproblems:
"Ageism update: Given the massive influx of talented college grads, Silicon Valley companies usually hire 20somethings since they have often have huge college debts to pay off so they're willing to work long hours, plus they have no families or mortgage (nor will in the valley given the skyrocketing housing prices) or health issues. Most 40+ workers either work for smaller companies, launch startups, shift into another field (like real estate or retail), or leave town, which is a loss to the big companies, but they're all downsizing (laying off older workers), not hiring, except young people with specific skills in emerging fields like AI and VR/AR."

CharlesXII, please analyze this New Years post by an Eat Pray Love shrew I am friends with:
As the sun set on 2017, and I’ve taken time to reflect, I am somewhat dumbfounded by the variety of extremes that have marked the last year.
.
From cherished solo-time marked with undercurrents of loneliness, to re-immersion into co-habitation and companionship, to constantly being surrounded by people and sometimes overwhelming periods extroversion. From the dark of Scandinavian winter to the light of summer. From the Northern hemisphere to the Southern delights of the Maldives and Bali. From one home of the last two years to three subsequent temporary ones. From a life built around myself, to a life often heavily focused on the needs of others. From a creature comfort of ‘nesting’ to having to project manage the re-build an actual house. From a student to graduate and embracing learning as a lifelong journey. From part-time self-employment to full-blown entrepreneurship. From feeling at home as a ‘doer’ to blossoming into an ‘ideas’ person. From structure and analysis to free-flowing and creative. From task-oriented to ‘being’ oriented. From resistance to challenging situations to acceptance and surrender. From masculine high-powered energy to embracing the feminine and the strength in softness.
.
Through it all, the test has been to practice ahimsa. After two years figuring out how to best take care of myself in a carefully-crafted environment, 2017 brought on test after test that pushed me to figure out how to practice self-care in less than perfect and often very trying circumstances. While at times the characters of frustration, anger, resentment and sadness stole the spotlight, I am comforted by love, compassion, understanding and resilience who shared their time on the stage of life. Even when things seemed heavy and bleak, my heart knew it was only temporary. Even when life was radiant and blissful, my heart knew this was temporary, too, and to nourish myself with every drop of joy.
.
The more we’re able to surrender and let go, the easier it is to ride life’s waves without losing ourselves in the currents. Happy New Year, may it be filled with love

A couple highlights from the long breakup comment chain:
Girl: what was the problem with this gentleman?
Emma: He wanted the relationship without putting in the effort. He wanted to be rewarded just for showing up. At HIS convenience.
Girl 2: You're smart for not putting up with that. I wish I were as boss as you. (comment liked by Emma)
Emma: It was difficult...I should have broken it off early January.
...
Friend: Have you tried a matchmaker?
Emma: *three moneybag emojis*
Friend: There are some who charge the men but not the women.
Emma: They do charge women by telling the women to go get all sorts of makeovers from consultants who pay the matchmaker kickbacks.
*some comments suggesting Jewish matchmaker types*
Emma: I *do* like Jewish men. *three smile emojis* Especially NY natives. *smile emoji*

Emma: After tonight's 3 year Friendversary dinner, I checked out Tinder...

-She apparently texted a friend during one of the dates to note the guy "was weird and did not have an Amex card." BTW it turned out he did have one but had left it at home.
-Somebody finally asks the obvious:
Friend1: "Just a thought. What if you stopped classifying or even choosing dates by their schools?"
Emma: " Y tho?" *posts pic of a text where a guy says 'Hello from the Yale Club!' and she replies with a bunch of hearts-in-eyes emojis*
Friend2: "because it hasnt worked so far.......?"
Friend3: "Because degrees don't automatically make a person good, kind, smart or a decent partner?"
Emma: "Y tho? I've been doing this wrong the whole time?" *gif of Jim Carey pulling his hair out in Liar Liar*
Friend4: "There's something to be said about a college education. I got mine later in life, and realized that there are some things that aren't easy to explain, and that merit a significant amount of study. These are things with which we still struggle to educate the public. Economics. Race, gender, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I can understand why it'd be difficult to be with someone without a college degree. Friends since my 20s: Emma, stop dating finance guys. Date someone NICE! Stop dating men based on the schools they graduated from. Date someone NICE!
The current guy (Still needs a nickname) is nice, affectionate, very communicative, confident, playful & extremely well educated. For our second date on Thursday, he took an almost 2 hour ride on his motorcycle after work to pick up ingredients to cook me dinner on the rooftop of his building on Wall Street. Yes, not only is he a FinTech guy working for a major bank for over a decade, he LITERALLY lives on Wall Street. *three crying with laughter gifs* Half an hour to midnight, he walked me all the way home. Last night, after a play & dinner with his friends, he suggested stopping by my apartment briefly just to say good night in person. I demurred since I wasn't feeling very attractive. He retorted that it didn't matter -- He's dating a human being.
For our first date on Monday, though he showed up with Thomas Pink cufflinks and in proper lace up shoes, he insisted that I wear whatever I felt comfortable in. I showed up in an unflattering dress & Guerlain KissKissKiss lipstick in Daring Pink that looked like they matched under indoor lighting. They did not match, and the lipstick is crazy bright in sunlight -- See photo on the right. Additionally, in a random fit of silliness (What were the chances I would see this guy again? I decided to at least amuse to myself even if he thought I was an idiot.), I put #IGK glitter spray in my hair. #ridiculous LOL. I decided to actually try looking pretty for our second date in a form flattering outfit & natural palette with Smashbox's Be Legendary lipstick in Primrose -- See photo on the left. #feminine
Oh dating!! *eyeroll gif*

In the comments, an argument ensues over the virtues of leaving NY:
Guy 1: Move to Wisconsin. House 20,000 to 40,000$. Your mortgage payment will be less the 60$ a month.
Guy 2: and few jobs and much, much lower pay.
Guy 1: actually Wisconsin has one of the fastest growing economies. It’s also on the high end of the pay scale. Your less then an hour from Chicago.
Guy 2: Ew. Do you know what they call 'pizza' in Chicago? So Gross ;)... you also can't compare living in, say, the west village, with living in Kenosha in a condo or apartment or a house. Propinquity is the virtue of the city.
Guy 1: I am talking downtown Milwaukee!

"LOVE LOVE LOVE The Yale Club. #FAVORITE
When I checked my coat tonight, my chip was #718 --> The area code for Brooklyn. When I asked the bartender to suggest a cocktail for me, he immediately responded: Manhattan. I hope these were both signs I will be able to stay in New York City, rather than more instances of the Universe mocking me. ðŸŒ
Send good vibes, please. Cheers!"

1. I insist that I will use Thing X after I move apartments, even though I haven't used Thing X for 5 years or even thought about Thing X for 5 years... Or more. 🙄
2. Every box thus far has been packed with multiple Thing X type items. Thus, I mentally tell myself that I must open these boxes immediately when I unpack. This urgency has been applicable to 90% of the boxes packed so far. 😑
3. I have waaaaaay more Dartmouth stuff than I thought. Like, 3+ items have been packed in 90% of the boxes packed so far. Definitely cannot Marie Kondo. People will think I'm Dartmouth obsessed! 😌

Then: "It's scary how true this is.
I also have 2 pairs of NEW $200+ men's Cole Haan size 7 shoes made in Italy with leather soles that are now too small for my HUGE feet. & a NEW pair of $100+ Brooks Brothers flats in size 9.

I saw her at an event earlier this week. It was pretty sad.
It was a small party at one of the model apartments at NYC's Mercedes House (no furniture, but they set up a bar and music etc.), maybe 30-40 people. Most people looked like your average fintech crowd (mostly men in suits or button-downs with vests), everyone was talking to each other, and she was the only one wandering around alone taking pictures of the drink in her hand, with the ring, of course. Literally doing this for at least 20 min. She is shorter IRL than I expected -- maybe 5'2" -- and looks very much like her pictures. If she were in a group of people talking, I would have come over to chat, but I didn't want to get stuck talking to her one-on-one.

The first and the fourth are the same shot with a different drink.
So either:
(1) She took the shot, finished the drink and got another one, and then took the same shot, presumably 20-30 minutes later.
(2) She got multiple drinks because she didn't know which would look better in the picture.

"Today was a DISASTER.
After finally catching up on sleep after Blockchain Week, I decided I'd use my beautiful Saturday to work instead of play. After searching for my laptop charger where I was certain I had left it, I rifled through the obstacle course of my apartment in its move-out-in-progress condition to discover that it had been STOLEN by someone I know, along with my bluetooth keyboard & mouse --> An ongoing problem with this person who NEVER EVER apologies & repeatedly tries to gaslight me as the worst person on Earth.
I decide to take a walk to calm down. A bird decides to use me as target practice. I get hit in no fewer than 3 locations on my person.
My evening plans fall through.
I spend 4 hours writing my blockchain article & it accidentally publishes before I'm ready. I planned on collecting more quotes tomorrow & Monday before going live on Tuesday. UGHHHHHH.
Time to go home & eat chocolate. GRRRRRRR..."

Armed with a LIST of reasons & at least one MAJOR dealbreaker, I chose what I thought is the least offensive. (It's not you, it's me.)
Emma: You can't date me. I don't always put everything back in its "proper" place.
He: Yeah, that's totally not going to work. On OK Cupid, I said it is "VERY" important that the person I date be neat. ...Also, you're not my type.
Emma: What's your type?
He: Leggy blondes. (& from earlier in the conversation, less than half his age!)

As some of you know, I've struggled with more than a decade of difficulties, as discussed with [person] on his podcast, [link to two-year-old podcast episode].
Some people think I don't want to be happy. I don't understand why -- I DEFINITELY want to be happy & work actively towards that goal. & I'm ecstatic when it's a pleasant surprise that happens organically, like today --
[Guy 1] & I met on ASMALLWORLD when we both joined the network in 2008. Before this month, we met in person three or four times, nice enough.
This afternoon, I agreed to meet him for iced Grounded coffee before going to an aSW event at Bagatelle NYC, expecting to talk about professional development. While we did start our discussion with LinkedIn strategies & thought leadership, the conversation naturally veered into human psychology & behavior. We had an extremely open & honest talk, where I discovered [Guy 1] to be contemplative, analytical, and intelligent.
It was FANTASTIC.
One of the best conversations I've had this year. It reminded me of the watershed moment I had with [Guy 2 after 10 years of friendship (if you include the three or four years I refused to speak to him. 😂). That conversation was centered on politics & government.
Yes, I like nice things & experiences (& I no longer apologize for it, particularly since they're much less frequent & extravagant these days) but people don't realize how much more I appreciate people with integrity & meaningful conversations, especially with such people. Discussions that are actually thought provoking & honest, where we can frankly share our opinions without walking on eggshells. Talks about THEORY & IDEAS. Talks about things that MATTER.
[Guy 1] & I then attended the art show at Bagatelle, where I introduced him to [Girl 1]. Sorry you could not join us, [3 other people].
(more blather about meeting people)
I ended my night with a spontaneous dinner with a fellow Dartmouth alumna who went to a rival high school. We didn't meet until I moved back to Manhattan in 2013, & it's a friendship that I didn't expect. It was nice to strengthen our bond in Waverly Restaurant, a diner from our teenage years while everything else from that period of our lives disappear.
This is all to say, sometimes friendships take a LOOOOONG time to solidify, & it may take you by surprise when you least expect it. This is a reminder to myself (& you dear readers) not to shut down in isolation & to be patient. Extremely, painstakingly patient. 💚
Looking forward to visiting [Girl 2] soon in Maine. FINALLY!! 💚💚

* After video chatting with guy *
Emma: Was that a wedding band I saw on your left ring finger?
Guy: No, it's a signet ring.
Emma: (Wow, he came up with that retort REALLY fast!!) 😒 I've never seen a signet ring in a wedding band style -- They've always had a flat surface with an engraved monogram or crest.
* Later *
[Friend 1]: If anyone knows what a signet ring looks like, it's Emma!
[Friend 2]: She knows pretentious.
[Friend 1]: It's true! That's her all the way!
😂
"Typically it bore a family crest or another symbol representing an individual on its distinguishable flat bezel. A design was usually engraved (often in reverse) either directly into the metal of the ring or an inset gem, and then pressed into wax or clay to create the personal seal, or signature."

We began with dinner at Esca, "Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s timeless fish and pasta spot... Year after year, Esca remains in the conversation of the NYC elite."
https://www.theinfatuation.com/new-york/reviews/esca
If you drop your dinner napkin, the staff will bring you a new one, placed on the table using two forks so their hands don't touch it.
Started with oysters. He had steak (rare) & I had swordfish. Shared a delicious chocolate dessert.
Then we went to the Broadway show about The Temptations. He bought his ticket before he met me, & offered to buy me a ticket to join him even though we couldn't get seats together. & yes, he gave me the better seat of the two. 💚 He loved the music-driven show pre-intermission & I loved the plot-driven show post-intermission.
Afterwards, he had his personal driver bring me home before heading home himself.
He already got us tickets to another show next month, & planning for a third + fourth show after that!!! 😃 You may get to meet him at the next Dartmouth Club party, or the #Dartmouth250 game against Princeton at Yankee Stadium."

Manufacturing will likely suffer most, but it's not that important in the UK
UK's future is in services
London will continue to prosper
Not so certain for the rest of the country
Banking will probably be the least impacted

"Fantastic Friday! This afternoon, I met with bestselling author & international keynote speaker (He's given over 500 and works with many Fortune 500 clients) Petr Ludwig. Over two hours, we discussed critical thinking, writing, business, procrastination, purpose, entrepreneurship, mental health, money, friendship, and philanthropy. He autographed a copy of his book (in English -- His book has been translated into more than a dozen other languages (He's Czech, like my favorite novelist, Milan Kundera (The Unbearable Lightness of Being))) for me. 🤓"

Interesting/cool note: He wears an uncommon silver ring that he made in high school that is very similar to one I bought years ago -- Maybe during high school. It's a square ring with a circular hole."

"I bought a loaf of bread a few days ago & I don't think I've ever been able to finish one myself before it would mold, so I pushed myself to use it sooner rather than later. The tomatoes @ Whole Foods didn't look great, so I went without.
Toasted whole wheat bread with New York cheddar. Deli-made potato salad that I topped with cranberries (which you'll be seeing a lot of because I have 3 bags in the freezer & they add color to my dishes so easily) & sprinkled with chia seeds. Accompanied by Lovely Break by Kusmi Tea (Not pictured). My first meal of the day @ 7:30pm.
Used my sandwich tray for the first time. Not the pattern I would have chosen but it's 'the best-selling dinnerware pattern in the world, the Old Country Roses pattern is practically synonymous with the name Royal Albert and a long-standing testament to timeless style and elegant craftsmanship.'"

"Had the most professionally productive 24 hours since mid-March.
1. Scheduled a call for tomorrow afternoon, in response to an inquiry about publishing my business book.
2. Applied to be an entrepreneurship mentor who may be flown to the MiSK Global Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia the week of October 18th, 2020.
3. Spoke with a recruiter based in London about a Head of PR position for an established cryptocurrency company.
4. Interviewed by [Person + Title] at Harvard University. I spoke about dating online as a person of color, & I might be quoted in the eventual book published in conjunction with Harvard.
5. Continuing to deal with dental needs. Follow-up phone call next week.
6. Responded to a blockchain/VR contact's offer about getting client referrals through her company.
Next (concurrent) big project should be adding a page to my new website to highlight my blockchain & crypto work..."

Emma is feeling motivated.
Earlier today, [friend] asked her network about erratic productivity levels. I felt that, as someone who has long lulls of marinating her thoughts (which look to others as "doing nothing") before bursts of intense productivity. I'm currently in the execution wave...
Last night, I accepted the invitation to apply to a private Forbes Women group.
This morning, I had a good call with a PR veteran who has been in the industry for over 40 years.
Over Messenger, I caught up with [another friend] to get an update on his book. He's a MUCH faster writer than I am, having already reached 40,000 words.
On LinkedIn, a possible collaborator set-up a call for us tomorrow. Same day, I will call a former colleague from the VR/AR world to discuss her proposal we work together.
Early evening, I will see my Dartmouth Club of New York Board members, including [various people].
Afterwards, it's my first Zoom party with a 7 Sisters group.
Then possibly an online session as a beta tester for a friend of [person] -- Still waiting for email instructions.
Throughout the day, I'll be responding to messages on a handful of platforms. As I explain in my latest Thrive Global article, [title]
How are you staying connected to your professional work?

"I am done for the day! It's been such a grueling 48 hours that I am too tired to even make ramen in a bowl where you just add boiling water. The only thing I've made today (early afternoon) is a spicy coconut vanilla (yum!!) smoothie with apples & bananas before everything went bad. I've already lost several apples & a potato. Food-wise, I had three mediocre (at best) pre-made sandwiches, & an oatmeal cookie pumped full of preservatives.
Yesterday, I worked 13 hours. Three Zoom calls almost back to back, book-ended by two phone calls.
Today, I started my day with a pleasant two hour business call, followed immediately by a Zoom session with two salespeople who tricked me into a 30 minute sales call."

"Today was a complete FAILURE in the kitchen. I didn't make -one- thing that was acceptable. Additionally, I burnt my hand with hot oil, & almost cut my self twice with an old knife. Yikes.
Even plating was a disaster. I gave up & had cereal for dinner.
The first attempt at scallion pancake (cut into triangles) weren't thin enough because the raw vegetables kept popping out during the flattening process. The second batch (uncut) was slightly better only because I cooked the scallions to soften them before adding to the dough. Smelled great, but too burnt on the edges.
The donut plate. UGH. I can't even. I was just trying to use up ingredients before they went bad. Apple sauce was way too watery.
Maybe going back to fish tomorrow. Or a bean heavy chili.
Now, I need a snack. A really good snack. 😔"

"I had a very optimistic post planned at 2:30pm. My morning writing session went well. My friend surprise visited me & treated me to an organic, fair trade iced coffee while I gave him a bag of apples & face masks. The weather was lovely. I picked up fresh fruits & vegetables from Whole Foods -- No line to get in. Had lunch with a lovely view. Found new material for my next presentation. Received a present in the mail. Made new international friends. Started talking to someone on Bumble. Etc. Etc.
I was home by 6pm. Curfew was announced. Then, KA-BLAMO!!! The world outside went (more) NUTS. I feel guilty going to sleep. I'm also afraid of what might happen while I'm sleeping. Someone advised me to stock up on for for NINETY days. I really want to go take photographs. I know I shouldn't."

LMAO some bitch trying to go after the megashrew for insufficient wokeness. She linked this video in a recent post:
https://www.facebook.com/lingting.wok/videos/10102249276319300/
Friend 1: "I refuse to be sad about a place when Black people are killed, elderly are pushed to the ground, and students are dragged from cars."
Friend 2: "agree. This is the wrong thing to be sad about in my opinion...I don’t feel sadness for boarded up stores. I feel sadness for black lives lost.
Emma: "I feel sad for both."
Friend 1: "I guess it's different for you. I barely go near most stores in Soho because I have experienced overt racism in the stores. It wears on my soul. I'll always pick humans over things."
Friend 2: "so true. Being followed around stores, believed not to be able to afford things. I don’t care one little bit about those stores.
"Also, Emma, I wanted to go a little deeper into 'feeling sad for both.' I realize I’m getting angrier and angrier after I reread your comment. To me it’s like saying you feel bad for the victim of domestic violence and also the husband for breaking a finger while he bashed her face in. When you feel sad for both, you’re putting the lives of real people on the similar level as the destruction of property. As if black people and property are synonymous. Well guess who had the same feeling? Slave owners."
Emma: "I didn't say I feel sad to the same degree/similar level for both. I am deeply upset by what is happening to people.
But I won't lie & say I'm not sad about other destruction."
Friend 2: "So Emma I want you to know as a prominent Dartmouth alum voice, people listen to you. You say you’re deeply upset by what is happening to “people” but your posts seem to indicate the opposite. Now I believe in cold hard facts (blame MIT and Dartmouth) so I took the time at near midnight this evening to go through your most recent posts (n=25). Out of those 25 posts, 12 were looting-related, 9 were “other” (e.g. future husband posts), 3 were about food, 1 was about anti-racism resources and ZERO expressed any condolences related to George Floyd or any other black persons death.
So please consider if that is the right ratio to express your sadness."

"Confession: One of the first meals I taught myself to cook was pasta. I have never liked cleaning, so I'd make the pasta (properly al dente thanks to proper guidance from my Italian friends in high school) & then add sauce to the same pot after draining out the excess water. I liked this method because it meant one less item to wash, the sauce adhered better, AND more importantly, everything is the same temperature. I'm particular about the temperature of my food & drinks.
Then came Instagram, so I switched to the restaurant style of adding sauce after plating the pasta. I currently don't have a giant fork to make a big spiraling mound.
However, yesterday's dinner was inspired by a friend's rant: For the love of GOD!!! Please don’t serve bare pasta with sauce on top! The purpose is for the pasta to absorb all this yummy flavors and hold the sauce, not to carry it over it’s shoulders and try to look cute. Take your al dente pasta, and add to your sauce which should have been heated separately in a deep skillet, mix in a little pasta water and let the magic happen, finish with a touch of EVOO.
Would you put your clothes on top of your head and say you’re already dressed? Geeezzzz!!
😂😂😂"
