this is a tough one. both are likely done here. tiger can somehow have a mental resurgence, but lance is physically gassed and has nothing left. so, tiger.

IMO Nadal, because he has the ability to string together 4-5 good matches and win a major, and also because draws in tennis can open up in a way that can present favorable matchups. Though I acknowledge his window is closing. He probably realistically has 10 chances left.

But this is very close. Tiger's advantage is that he probably has a good 6-8 years left where he could conceivable win a major, and all it takes is one weekend of really good golf to get one.

yeah, two major factors: 1) any random fucker can win a golf major, whereas it's hard for anyone besides the big 2 + stan + murrayfag to win a major in this era, and 2) tiger has much more time left.

Yeah, the randomness of golf results cuts both ways though.

I think Nadal has the better shot right now. If you asked me in a year, I'd probably say Tiger.

As bad as Nadal has been, Tiger has been worse.

So it's Nadal, but neither is in position to win another major.

i have to admit, TORO X seems like a fantasy that *could* happen if uncle thoni gets the dosage right this time. tiger just is so far off the map at this point.

Plus in tennis you only have to beat 7 guys, and you could conceivably have some upsets help you along the way.

That said I do not expect Nadal to win RG this year.

yep, he's not going to win, but isn't totally unforeseeable given that uncle thoni got the dose right at IW.

uncle thoni getting the right dosage + a good draw + some upsets + djoker choking + banning chair umpires who enforce the 25 second rule = TORO X??

oddsmakers do have him as the 2nd favorite. that's ridic to me, tho.

srsly, what's your coupe winner prediction?

i guess, but who else would be the second favorite? fed? stan? murray? ferrer? NOWAG? nadal isn't a bad choice among a bunch of unlikely guys.

djokovic is the obvious favorite, but hey, everyone meets their roberta vinci sooner or later.

lol @ "everyone meets their roberta vinci". i laffed

all those guys, plus the "up and comers" -- theim, raonic, kyrgios. i theim is the one one who is a clay courter, tho.

i've said this before (in the bold and counterintuitive predictions), but i think murrayfag is very well suited to make a RG final at this point. sad!

so, who is your pick?

djokovic is my pick. at this point the tour is so weak that there is no other pick.

djokovic winning the slam this year at age 29 would be further evidence that this was a transitional era, but only i and few other people with brains would think that.

i think 4/1 is terrible. there are a few guys who can beat him on any given day playing lights out if he has a mediocre day (fed, stan, murrayfag), plus there's always the possibility of him totally choking as the pressure builds and he could easily get vinci'd.

i think 8~10/1 is still what i'd go for.

Tiger. Tiger's grinded through swing changes before; i won't really write him off until he's struggling like this a year from now. A couple years ago he was the player of the year on the tour and won five times (prob would have won a major if not for a freak bounce).

Rafa, on the other hand, is done here. Body falling apart, game falling apart, no confidence, etc. His only shot IMO is the French next year.
