But the Republican establishment is 100% committed to stopping this revolt, even if it means Hillary gets elected. Just read through National Review and Redstate if you don't believe me. They will run someone like Rick Perry 3rd party if need be.
Trump had the narrowest of paths to the presidency to begin with- part of that path required the Republican establishment to shrug its shoulders and embrace him when it became clear he would win. It's 100% clear that won't happen.
I think Trump even knows this with his recent tweets about going third party himself and re-tweeting Mussolini. He can be a huge 3rd party force in politics with his nationalist populism, but there is simply no chance he will be president now. |
