If Yak-40 counts then yes. Amazing almost vertical take off, a few seconds and the plane is up there. VS a passenger airliner felt like a sporty car VS bus.

ljl julia. the turbulance is noticeably worse than a commercial liner if the jet is a 6-8 person phenom or hawker or a turboprop, which is probably what you were on. 20-person heavy jets don't feel discernibly different from a large commercial plane wrt turbulence.

I've been on many a turboprop - my ex used to own a couple - and they are horribly turbulent, but even a 15-20 person jet is noticeably more turbulent than our typical A320 or 757/737-900 commercial jt

Maybe it was because we had a former airforce pilot chauffering us and he didn't avoid the most turbulent altitudes like a commerical jet would. I can't say.

former GF's family used to rent a turboprop plane to fly us up to her summer house in new england every weekend, was pretty fucking awesome. our cars (kept at the house for the summer at least) would be pulled right up to where the plane was landing.

yes, flew on a gulfstream a very short distance, like 30 minute flight time, and on a beechcraft premier from boise to florida with a stop somewhere for fuel. the latter flight was pretty uncomfortable

this reminded me of one time from NY to FL on a 20-yr old Learjet 35. That thing was tight and uncomfortable - seats weren't difference from coach, no real bathroom cabin, and it just felt too light and unsafe overall. ~16 seat heavy jets are the best.

yea I took one to DC from Chi. Plane held about ten people. On the way back rich guy jet owner offered to drop a friend off in New Hampshire and we just made an extra stop--a bit kooky if you ask me. Also youre plan lands and your car is sitting there ready on the runway.

It’s 180 for sure. Had a liquor cabinet and we were in the air 5 min after the last person got there; no security is incredible. But the most amazing part is how insanely convenient everything associated with it is. We landed, van on tarmac, meeting, van to plane, back on plane. In air 5 min later. I doubt I was outside for more than 45 seconds and I got back home an hour after my normal time.

I have to agree with Julia on turbulence though. We were on a 12-seater with two pilots (one of the seats is removable and doubles as a toilet in the coat closet. We did not encounter bad weather but you can really feel the vertical moves.
