i think he'll get a chance to hit 3 or 4 times a week. the CBA means no team can offer him much money, so he'll have the leverage to say i'll only sign with you if you let me hit. pretty much anyone would give him the max contract allowed, so they'll have to distinguish themselves some other way. if he really wants to hit, he'll have a shot to do so.

But I highly, highly doubt any major league team is going to let him play the field when he isn't pitching. Best case scenario an AL team toys with having him DH occasionally, and even that seems extremely unlikely. It's a shame, because he sure can crush the ball in addition to being a great pitcher. But if the pitching doesn't work out he could easily pull an Ankiel and become a full-time position player.

Since no one can pay him anything close to market salary, word is he will prioritize choosing a club that will let him pitch and hit on off days.
