I have a few instruments and definitely suck at all of them, and definitely would sound like a total noob to anyone who plays an instrument well, but I can do enough to amuse myself.
I'm not trying to recommend limiting your goals, just saying it's enjoyable well before you're ready to perform. And there's plenty of music that even a newish player can learn to perform easily enough.
Like its very hard to become impressive on guitar. It's not hard at all to learn a bunch of chords, basic music theory and some scales, and have fun just fucking around. Eventually if you keep practicing and try to learn, you can get as good as you want within limits.
And it takes maybe ten or twenty hours of practice to get to the point where you can do more than clumsily changing beginner chords. Getting past total beginner level is easier than people think imho. |
