Note: not sure I buy this all, but this is the argument...
Trump is currently only getting around 80% of Republican voters in polling. Bush always got over 95, Romney got around 95. McCain got around 90.
This is a segment of voters who can be persuaded to vote for Trump. Probably pretty easily. These people are by far the lowest hanging fruit for Trump.
Pence is respected among them. More so, they think of Pence as a serious choice that a "real campaign" would make. A lot of their concern is that Trump isnt serious and is kind of running a joke campaign. Pence goes against that and hopefully brings cucky home.

Never capitulate to cucks. They capitulate, it's the entire reason they are sucks.
Not to mention the nature of the electoral college and our demographics means that even if Trump got 95% of Republicans, he won't win. He NEEDS to get the centrists, and Pence with his extreme social conservative views will push them away.
Trump made it to where he is IN SPITE of the GOP Establishment. It makes absolutely no sense to cave in now, to people who ultimately don't like him, instead of sticking with his winner political outsider/reformist strategy.
