They whole basis of Trump's support seems to be angry white people looking to shake up the system, so this likely won't sway them.
2. Trump was behind even before this, and pundits identified suburban white women as the most crucial area where he needed to make up ground. Obviously, this story could not be more tailor made for removing that possibility, and that seems to be the main result of it.
3. The story will allow the media to go into full "Trump is a sleazebag" mode for the last month of the campaign. Sure, they already did that to some extent, but this gives them license to do far more. This nonstop media barrage will make it even harder for Trump to make up ground.
4. The story should increase turnout and early voting among voters, especially women, who are ambivalent about Hillary but now are more determined that Trump can't win. |
