Date: October 26th, 2016 8:16 PM Author: Laughsome blathering pisswyrm at first, before the first sip, you're really excited. feels like a kid stealing candy from the store, or what i imagine it feels like when you're about to cheat on your gf: guilt is there, but it's overshadowed by excitement. that first sip, it's exhilarating. probably the endorphins firing. then after the first drink or two are down, you feel guilty, but keeping going. then as it progresses to drinks three and four you think "this isn't even that fun" and your expectations deflate like a balloon with a slow leak, but you keep drinking because you know drinking is fun and you just aren't drunk enough. then, after a few more drinks, you zone out for a bit and kind of enjoy the numbness of it. maybe get a laugh or two and have a couple fun moments of relaxation. then you keep drinking, because if you were fun, then more booze will mean more fun. it doesn't though, and you just get drunker for the next couple of hours. eventually you pass out into shitty sleep.
the next day, you wake up sweating, your anxiety is sky fucking high, on the verge of panic attacks, the guilt is back but ten fold, you feel like absolute shit and spend 20 minutes taking a shit holding your stomach, muttering to yourself about what you've done, and you just pray that the feeling will pass but you know you won't start to feel even a little better until tomorrow and won't feel completely better for at least three days. you're fucking useless at work and consider how you're probably going to get fired any day now because of how behind you are. you wonder if your wife looked in the trashcan outside and saw the bottle and if she's going to confront you, again, when you get home. you swear the booze off for good.
but then either that night or the following, you're thinking about drinking again. maybe you make it the week and decide to reward yourself, now that you've shown you have discipline and can stop whenever you want. it's the weekend anyway, and you think about how fun drinking is, how much you enjoy it, how you always have a good time. repeat; repeat; repeat. |
