The valves were fucked

This is on a 2012 with the pentastar. Almost out of warranty. They were *very* lucky it was still covered

Sorry bro, but these things are dogshit. I wanted to believe that they had improved, but nope

Which is why I said with the 5.7L hemi, not the shitty V6. If you're going to go for the shitty V6, may as well just get a 4Runner.

There is nothing wrong with the output of the v6. I've driven it a lot, it's a perfectly fine suv. You shouldn't have to get the big engine just to get something that is reliable

They copped the JGC because they could get a family/employee discount. It's kind of stunning how many different car companies my parents can cop that discount on. I feel like I don't have THAT much family in the auto industry but my folks can cop the family/employee discounts on GM, Chrysler, and Subaru

It is fine, but not impressive. If you're ok with "fine" then get a 4Runner.

"You shouldn't have to get the big engine just to get something that is reliable"

If you think like that then don't get a Jeep. Some of their stuff is more reliable than others. That's just life. Go to any Jeep board and you'll notice that the V6s have like 95% of the engine/drivetrain problems. Plus, the V8 is faster. Just how it works.

LMAO bro. Just wait until your air suspension takes a shit, just like every single air suspension ever fitted to a vehicle eventually does, then go tell me how reliable your car is.

My decision to cop an Outback has basically won the title of being a better choice than my parent's decision to get a JGC

Then my warranty will cover it and I'll be out all of $100. NBD. One big reason I'm scared not to get a GC - they have the best warranty out there.

It's not exactly some kind of chill thing to have a car go in for a big repair, even if it's covered under warranty.

My parent's JGC gave up the ghost 3 hours from home, so they had to ride around in some crapcan loaner Patriot for three weeks, then blow off a day just to go get their car back.

But like you say, that's a possibility with any air suspension setup. And if you want a capable sports SUV then you basically have to have air suspension, because at high speeds you need reduced center of gravity and in deep snow or off road you need ground clearance.

All of these depend on how they're spec'ed. I guarantee that if you were in an AMG 63 you would think the Mercedes was the best.
