I know JAG is crazy competitive these days, so I'm not taking that as given. At this point, it's hard to turn down summer $ at the firm. I would definitely be more willing to do that if JAG or public summer led straight to an 'offer' of direct commission, much like the firms. I have several family members across the spectrum (Marine grunt, Navy officer, Army officer). If I could choose, I'd put Army first just because it's the largest, so it seems like there would be more opportunities to go along with that. I'd put Marine Corps second, Navy third, then AF.
