Ideal way to wake up is to the sunrise. People get depressed in the winter because they are waking up while it is still dark. Causes brain damage and addictions. Natural light is best but wake up lights are a decent alternative. Waking from a deep sleep to a horrible noise is literal insanity

There's a light that slowly comes on over the course of 20-30 minutes. Then the radio/alarm comes on as normal.

I'm FAR less angry/shocked/hostile when the audio part comes on than I am with a normal audio alarm. I frequently will wake up just to the light alone.

I've never been a morning person, and it makes mornings suck WAY less

My mornings definitely suck more when I'm traveling and don't have it

Also the thing excels at being a standard bedside light. You can dial in the brightness so as to not disturb your partner. I also like it for sex, sex seems better when the room is kinda dark (but still light enough to see your girl).

What I do is call one of the local hotels the night before and ask for a wakeup call (just say you're in Room 241 or whatever) but then say you want it made to your cell phone. They'll call you the next morning and bam - free alarm.

I still have an old digital clock radio that I have used for over a decade - love it because it actually shows what time the alarm is set for the next day on the display without having to press any buttons to see what time its set for. I can just roll over in bed and see exactly what time its set for.

I also sleep with the shades partly open so I have natural sunlight coming in every morning.

I use a sleep cycle app on my phone so that it gauges if i'm in deep sleep or REM sleep- you want to wake up when you're not in deep sleep and a combination of this and sunlights = 180 sleep.

It works best for the 6 to 7 hr range sleep where I feel like there's a lot of range as to whether I feel tired or not that day.

I'd have good mornings with only 6 hrs when I use the app and terrible 7 hr sleeps when I don't/not enough sunlight etc.

As a freshman I could pull multiple all nighters with minimal naps in between but now with 5 hrs of sleep I feel dead the entire day :(
