One was a completely unremarkable white guy. Overweight with an acne scarred face and lacking social graces. He went from USC to Biglaw

The other guy was an average Asian guy. Went from UVA to Biglaw.

Both were from lower middle class suburbs around Los Angeles.

If these two can make it anyone can. They weren't very bright. They weren't charming. This whole board might be fraud lies.

? most biglawyers I meet are extremely dull people. that's to say nothing of this board, clearly MPA, neumann, et al use this as a creative outlet. but i dont think they're representative of the average biglaw associate

What about the fatalism that increasingly permeates the board? People here act like it's difficult to secure Biglaw or any law employment at all. Even today we had threads saying 100k is a lot of money.

to get biglaw you need to get into a T20 or maybe T25. after that, it's a sliding scale on where you need to be in your class. any school lower than T10, you need to be at median or higher. T20, top third of your class.

if you're not part of that special group (which is about 10% of all law students), you went to law school and paid the same $275K in tuition but now the best you can hope for is a shitlaw job making $45K.

My point is that unremarkable people make it all the time. The prevailing attitude here will cripple you.

Getting biglaw is easy

Lasting in it long enough to get good exit ops and not killing yourself in the interim is the hard part

The board has sunk far from the days where getting Biglaw is considered easy.

Lasting in biglaw is more about hard work, ability to tolerate tedium and also detail orientedness, not intelligence.

Also going from a top 14 to biglaw is pretty easy to do. Usc guy prob had decent grades though.

The quality of law grads has fallen precipitously in the last 10 years. It is remarkable.
