(1) it's a lot cheaper to house and feed Syrian refugees at location closer to Syria than Europe or America, and therefore you can save a lot more lives with a set amount of resources with that approach.

(2) there's a non trivial risk that terrorist organizations infiltrate its members (or just that the refugees themselves might have jihadist tendencies) to attack the West when they get here.

(3) even if not jihadist, a big portion of Muslim have values that are very different from the secular liberal values of the West. Evidence shows that when a large portion of them come to the West (contrast Europe with the US the latter of which has a small number), they fail to integrate, so we should minimize Muslim immigration.
