How does someone develop strong beliefs about moral or factual issues?

for example, do vaccines cause autism? i have no idea. i have no reason to think so, but apparently the consensus is i'm supposed to consider insane the people who do think so.
abortion. i understand both sides. but how can anyone believe their side is "right"?

those are two very different issues though.
people who believe vaccines cause autism are either uninformed, like Trump, or simply stupid, like Jill Stein
Abortion is more of a moral issue.

i think you should generally ask people why they believe something before calling them an idiot
there's 100+ studies saying that there is no correlation between vaccines and autism and only one that does.
the one study has a lot of fudged data, fudged because someone paid off the guy who wrote it.
i can let almost Trump off the hook here because he probably reads jack shit about science - he built his fortune in real estate and business. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't know who Jonas Salk was, or how vaccines even work.
Jill Stein, on the other hand, has a fucking medical degree from fucking Harvard, and still believes in "homeopathic" hogwash. That's either willful ignorance or plain stupidity.
