EQUITY partner

what that likely means at Dechert is that there are 400 partners, but around 150 of them are equity partners and count for the PPP metrics.

Gross revenue was $341.5 million in 2016, up 1.2 percent from $337.5 million in 2015. Profits per equity partner were up very slightly, by 0.8 percent, increasing from $600,000 to $605,000.

But revenue per lawyer fell as the firm grew its head count. RPL was $645,000, a decrease of 3 percent from 2015.

Total lawyers increased by 4.4 percent to 529, while the equity partnership tier shrank 3 percent from 238 to 231. Ballard Spahr does not have a nonequity partner tier.

Crowell & Moring partners enjoyed an uncommonly good year in 2016. "They hated it," chairwoman Angela Styles joked about partners' responses to the firm's big gains in both revenue and profits.

The firm posted a 20 percent boost in revenue for 2016, and profits per equity partner (PPP) jumped 40 percent.

Gross revenue landed at $434.3 million last year, an increase of more than $71 million from the year before. And PPP reached $1.448 million, which was $412,000 more per partner than the firm reported the previous year.

Why would a firm be honest about this. What did Dewey report in the years before it folded? I know people who work at some of these firms and they had super slow years, particularly the entire second half of the year due to election uncertainty supposedly. Then suddenly eveything looks better than 2015? Which was a super busy year all around. Give me a break.

Revenue rose about 10.3 percent, reaching $1.18 billion, while profits per partner at the 907-lawyer firm grew about 12.5 percent to $3.75 million, according to preliminary reporting by The American Lawyer. Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLPís global profits per partner jumped by 9.6 percent between 2015 and 2016, surpassing $2 million each, the firm said Tuesday.

The Washington, D.C.-headquartered law firmís profits ticked up from $401.6 million in 2015 to $412.5 million across its 20 global offices last year and its revenue jumped 5.4 percent from $930 million to nearly $980 million.
