I bought my first home 40 years ago. Right now I am completing a huge remodel on this one, and will be selling it for a minimum of $750,000. Then we go to our other property and have one built where we retire overlooking a river, on 20 forested acres with no neighbors ever in sight. Oh, and I have not lived in a city since 1979. Renting means paying for someone else' property. I have always preferred to pay for my own property and constantly build equity. I will be retiring on that equity. Try that by renting.

180.

Millennial here. Bought my house a few years ago and it's appreciated by close to 25%. Plus I've built additional equity through mortgage payments (my rate is very low) and the tax deductions are awesome. And, at the end of the day, not having to worry about renewing a lease or moving a family every few years is great.

LOL at the millennial who can't get their shit together.

In 5 years or so you wont be able to find a desirable house in a major metro for less than 1.5M. Its going to be like Japan here where you have 3 generations living under the same roof.
