lol at this. there are about 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. the milky way has between 100-400 billion stars. assume an average of 100 billion stars per galaxy and that gives you 200 sextillion (2x10^23) stars in the observable universe. it's estimated that in our galaxy alone there could be as many as 40 billion habitable planets.

Combine this with our knowledge of how quickly abiogenesis happened on earth (we have found putative fossilized microorganisms in hydrothermal vent precipitates that lived around 4.28 billion years ago. earth formed 4.54 billion years ago) and I find it highly unlikely that earth is the only planet in the galaxy that harbors life. In order for that to be true, earth would have to be extraordinarily special, which we know it is not. Given how many planets are in our galaxy, it is highly likely that there are many planets with environments much more favorable for holding life than what we see on earth.

edit: oh I see, you're talking about intelligent life, not just life. somehow I missed that.

Potentially a black hole the size of tens of thousands of milky ways consuming everything. Shapely supercluster bros be fuuuuuckkked

The Great Attractor is a gravitational anomaly in intergalactic space at the center of the Laniakea Supercluster that reveals the existence of a localised concentration of mass tens of thousands of times more massive than the Milky Way. This mass is observable by its effect on the motion of galaxies and their associated clusters over a region hundreds of millions of light-years across. The Great Attractor is moving towards the Shapley Supercluster.[1]

Black holes dont necessarily eat stars and planets. At a distance, their gravitational pull actually helps form the building blocks of stars and planets.

It could be dark matter. Thats the only thing with potentially more mass than a black hole. I think recently someone was theorizing that there is a limit to the size of a black hole.

On a poetical level, you need the swirling drains of black holes to stir shit up and cause ACTION in the universe.

Also, i think there's a stream of shit that spews out of the poles of black holes for tremendous distances and it happens because of the traffic jam of matter that gets logjammed on its way into the black hole.

So that stream of shit alone causes disruptions, action as well. it would totally destroy the earth if that beam of shit spewing from the pole of a black hole came into contact w the earth.

it moves in its own slow way between the galactic arms of the galaxy and its nebulas over the millennia.

When it passed thru a denser portion, with lots of dust and nebula, that's when it picked up the self replicating building blocks of life, which were floating out there in space, with all the time in the world (more time than earth was around) to develop their self replicating tendencies.

Our entire galaxy revolves around its center (a big black hole). Also the entire universe is expanding so our galaxy is moving ever further away from the center of the universe.

There's a shitload of layers/levels to the universe. I doubt you understand them all either.

The universe is a flat little pancake, actually. So all those people saying the world is flat had a point, just on a much bigger scale.

The sun revolves around the black hole at the center of our galaxy. The Universe is ever expanding BUT it does not revolve. The revolving ends with the black hole. The rest is expansion.

Yes, everything in the galaxy (including our solar system) revolves around the blackhole at the center. The black hole doesn’t revolve around anything but galaxies do move further and further apart from each other over time. The earth’s real orbit around the galaxy looks like a circular coil

This is an overly simplistic explanation but it’s the general idea

So the black hole is not staying put but is moving? Where is it going and why? How fast?

Black hole isn’t moving in the conventional sense, but all galaxies are moving further apart from each other
