Is there any advantage to getting a confidential marriage license over a public one? Thanks.

Normal couple. Not gay, no immigration issues, not bigamists.

I looked online and they say a confidential license avoids the possibility of identity theft and junk mail. Could be flame.

Poor RC? She can file for divorce in CA if we live there, regardless of where the marriage was done.

We got confidential because it's like $5 less and you don't need a witness for a confidential license (went to courthouse for ceremony), and nobody can search for the record. Otherwise somehow all those search sites that scour public records end up knowing who you're married to.

Thanks. Is there any hassle of having the confidential license, like getting a certified copy of your marriage certificate easily?

what about the fact that your kids wont be able to get a copy of your marriage certificate w/o you notarizing a request yourself? is that a big deal?

My son is barely 2 so I wouldn't know. I haven't had a situation where I needed my parents' marriage certificate. It is very easy to order the certificate yourself (we got 5 certified copies just in case).
